Unlock Precise Navigation with Seamless Data Conversion

Imagine navigating choppy waters where every degree of heading accuracy matters. The AT10HD steps in as your reliable bridge, transforming high-speed 10Hz heading data from NMEA 0183 sources directly into SimNet format. This isn't just a converter—it's the key to integrating advanced heading sensors with your Simrad ecosystem, ensuring autopilot systems, radar overlays, and chartplotters receive real-time, ultra-precise updates without lag or loss.

Crafted for marine professionals and avid boaters alike, this universal high-speed converter handles the nuances of 10Hz data streams effortlessly. Whether you're stabilizing a vessel during high-speed maneuvers or fine-tuning radar ARPA targets, the smooth conversion eliminates compatibility headaches, letting you focus on the horizon ahead.

Key Features That Set It Apart

  • High-Speed 10Hz Support: Captures and relays heading data at 10 updates per second for pinpoint accuracy, ideal for dynamic environments like offshore racing or commercial fishing.
  • Universal NMEA 0183 Input: Compatible with a wide array of heading sensors, gyros, and rate compasses—no proprietary lock-ins.
  • Direct SimNet Output: Plugs seamlessly into Simrad networks, distributing data to multifunction displays, autopilots, and instruments.
  • Compact and Rugged Design: Built to withstand harsh marine conditions, with straightforward wiring for quick deck installations.
  • Plug-and-Play Simplicity: Minimal configuration required; it auto-detects and prioritizes heading sentences like HDT, HDG, and HDM.

Why Choose This Converter for Your Setup?

In today's interconnected boating world, data silos can compromise safety and performance. This converter shines by bridging legacy NMEA 0183 heading gear with modern SimNet networks, preserving investments in high-end sensors while unlocking their full potential. Boaters report sharper autopilot tracking, reduced radar clutter from unstable headings, and enhanced stability in AIS and ECDIS systems.

Picture this: Your gyrocompass pumps out 10Hz precision, but your Simrad plotter only sees choppy 1Hz updates. Frustrating, right? This unit fixes that instantly, delivering butter-smooth data flow. It's particularly invaluable for vessels with mixed equipment—think retrofitted commercial ships or performance yachts chasing speed records.

Effortless Integration into Your Marine Network

Getting started is straightforward. Connect the NMEA 0183 input wires to your heading sensor's output (typically TXA/TXB/RS422), ground as needed, and link the SimNet backbone to your network spine. Power it from 12-24V DC sources common on board. Within minutes, heading data floods your displays—test by monitoring sentence output on a connected MFD.

For optimal results, ensure clean power and shielded cabling to dodge noise interference. In multi-device setups, it prioritizes the fastest, most reliable source, making it a smart hub for redundant heading inputs.

  1. Secure mounting near the network core to minimize cable runs.
  2. Verify baud rates match (standard 38,400 for high-speed NMEA).
  3. Monitor via Simrad diagnostics for flawless operation.

Real-World Applications Across Boating Scenarios

From coastal cruisers relying on stable autopilot holds to offshore surveyors demanding gyro-grade precision, this converter adapts. Enhance radar MARPA tracking for collision avoidance, supercharge wind instruments with true heading corrections, or feed accurate COG/SOG data to voyage planners. It's the unsung hero in tournament fishing rigs, where split-second heading stability means landing the big one.

Frequently Asked Questions

AT10HD SimNet to NMEA 0183 Coverter f/ 10Hz Heading

AT10HD Universal high speed NMEA0183 converter MFG 24006694 converts NMEA0183 10Hz heading data to Simnet.

"The Simrad AT10HD is specifically made for the GB40 Radar Processor and ensures that high speed heading information is continuously relayed to radar autopilot and other dynamic systems. The AT10 HD is specifically made for the GB40 Radar Processor to supply NMEA0183 heading data with high update rate (10Hz) for the MARPA function. Hence it comes with a 12 pin plug matching the connector on the Radar Processor. 10Hz heading is the only information the AT10 HD will transmit via NMEA 0183. The AT10 HD also converts data received in NMEA0183 format to SimNet \/ NMEA 2000 format. The AT10 HD is powered from the SimNet bus (or from NMEA2000 bus via an adapter cable)."
