Garmin GMI™/GNX™ Wired Sail Pack 52 Product Description
Imagine slicing through choppy waters with unwavering confidence, every gust of wind and shift in current crystal clear on your dashboard. The Garmin GMI™/GNX™ Wired Sail Pack 52 delivers that edge for serious sailors, bundling high-performance instruments and transducers into one cohesive system. Tailored for sailboats, this pack transforms raw data into actionable insights, helping you trim sails perfectly, navigate tricky shallows, and push your vessel's limits safely.
Precision Instruments at the Heart of Your Cockpit
The pack centers around two powerhouse displays: the GMI 20 and GNX 20 marine instruments. The GMI 20 stands out with its vibrant 4-inch color screen, featuring extra-large digits visible from afar—even in bright sunlight or from awkward angles up to 170 degrees. Its glass-bonded, anti-glare lens fights fogging and glare, while customizable night modes (red/black, green/black, or standard) ensure readability during long passages. Auto-scrolling screens keep critical info rotating without manual intervention, ideal for solo sailors or when hands are busy with lines.
Complementing it, the GNX 20 offers a crisp monochrome LCD with scalable digits up to 36mm, excelling in depth, speed, and temperature readouts. Both draw power seamlessly from the NMEA 2000 network, minimizing wiring hassles and supporting over 100 vessel parameters—from wind angles to fuel efficiency.
Master the Winds with gWind Transducer Technology
True wind data can make or break a race or passage. The gWind wired transducer rises to the challenge with its innovative 3-bladed propeller and twin-fin design. Unlike traditional cup anemometers, this setup delivers pinpoint True Wind Speed (TWS) in light breezes and stable True Wind Angle (TWA) across gusts. Optic sensors ensure linearity and low-wind accuracy, feeding reliable data back via a 25-meter mast cable. Sailors report fewer false readings during tacks, letting you anticipate puffs and lulls with precision.
Depth, Speed, and Beyond: Airmar DST810 Smart Transducer
Mounted thru-hull, the DST810 multisensor transducer is a game-changer for underwater awareness. It captures water depth up to 330 feet, speedy 5 Hz speed-through-water signals, and temperature, all at 235 kHz with a wide 10x44-degree beam for quick bottom lock-on. What sets it apart? Built-in attitude sensing tracks heel, trim, pitch, and roll—vital for performance sailing where boat angle skews traditional readings. Bluetooth connectivity pairs with compatible apps for on-the-fly calibration at various heel angles and speeds, fine-tuning accuracy without hauling out.
Effortless NMEA 2000 Integration for Custom Setups
This pack shines in its plug-and-play compatibility. The included GND 10 black box bridge unites everything over NMEA 2000, with drop cables, T-connectors, terminators, and power cables provided. Customize profiles for sail racing, cruising, or fishing—swap between powerboat, sailboat, or bespoke layouts. IPX6 waterproofing and surface-mount design handle harsh marine environments, from salt spray to heavy rain. Low power draw (under 3W for instruments) suits battery-conscious setups.
Real-World Advantages for Sailors
Sailors upgrading to this pack often cite sharper tactical decisions: optimize VMG with real-time TWA/TWS, avoid groundings via heel-adjusted depth, and monitor performance with speed-over-ground overlays. It's not just gear—it's a system that grows with your skills, supporting expansions like chartplotters or autopilots. In regattas, the stable wind data edges out competitors; on bluewater runs, attitude-corrected speed builds trust in autopilot routing.

How does the gWind transducer improve wind accuracy?
The 3-bladed propeller and twin-fin design provide stable True Wind Angle and precise speed in low winds, outperforming cup-style sensors with optic-based readings for linearity.
What data does the DST810 transducer provide?
It measures depth to 330 feet, water speed at 5 Hz, temperature, and attitude (heel/trim, pitch/roll) for corrected readouts during heeled sailing.
Is this pack compatible with other Garmin marine gear?
Yes, full NMEA 2000® integration allows seamless connection to chartplotters, autopilots, and more, sharing over 100 parameters across your network.
How do I calibrate the transducers?
The DST810 supports wireless Bluetooth calibration via compatible apps at multiple speeds and heel angles; gWind uses standard NMEA tools for straightforward setup.
What's the power requirement for these instruments?
They operate on 9-16V via NMEA 2000, with low consumption—0.33W for transducers and 3W max for displays—perfect for extended voyages.
Can I use this in rough conditions?
Absolutely, with IPX6 waterproofing, anti-glare lenses, and rugged construction, it's built for spray, rain, and vibration on sailboats.
The GMI 20 digital marine instrument display is perfectly designed for both power and sail. Designed to clearly show depth, speed, wind and 100-plus marine and vessel parameters, its large, bright 4 Inch color display with extra-large digits is easy to read at a distance and 170-degree viewing angle.

Know the Wind and Water
With a GMI/GNX Wired Sail Pack 52, you’ll have all the equipment you need to know what’s going on with the wind and water.
GMI 20 Marine Instrument
The GMI 20 digital marine instrument display is perfectly designed for both power and sail. Designed to clearly show depth, speed, wind and 100-plus marine and vessel parameters, its large, bright 4” color display with extra-large digits is easy to read at a distance and 170-degree viewing angle.
A glass-bonded finish lens on GMI 20 prevents fogging and increases contrast. Daylight readability is enhanced with a high-contrast color scheme. For enhanced night visibility, you have a choice of red/black, green/black or the normal night mode color scheme along with a dimmer control. Screens can be set to auto-scroll — cycling between pages automatically without you having to do a thing. This is especially advantageous for sailors as it allows you to install the unit(s) in a greater variety of locations on the vessel. Default profiles can be customized for powerboat, sailboat, fishing, engine/fuel plus several other user-specified profiles. Power is supplied by the NMEA 2000® network.
GNX 20 Marine Instrument
The easy-to-read GNX 20 marine instrument display has black digits on a white or color background. It clearly shows water depth, boat speed through the water, water temperature and 50-plus marine and boat parameters. Its glass-bonded display with anti-glare lens coating provides excellent daytime and nighttime readability with high-contrast digits scalable up to 36 mm.
gWind Transducer
gWind transducer features twin-fin technology with 3-bladed propeller for more accurate True Wind Speed (TWS) in lighter air while the twin-fin design gives a more stable True Wind Angle (TWA). The 3-bladed propeller, unlike a cups design, is always efficient. Combined with optic reading, this transducer provides superior accuracy at low wind speeds and also provides for excellent linearity.
Airmar DST810 Thru-hull Smart Transducer
DST810 combines precise depth, speed and temperature data with altitude sensing for heel/trim and pitch/roll inputs — which it provides to the NMEA 2000® network and GNX 20 instrument. This multisensor transducer can read depths to 330 feet, offers fast 5 Hz water speed signal output and has an operating frequency of 235 kHz with a fan-shaped beamwidth of 10x44 degrees. Additionally, wireless connectivity to devices with BLUETOOTH® technology enables DST810 calibration directly through Airmar’s Cast app. Advanced speed calibration allows for calibration at multiple heel angles and speeds.
