Lowrance HDS Live 12 Twin-Display Fish Finder Bundle w/Active Imaging
Lowrance HDS Live 12 Twin-Display Fish Finder Bundle w/Active Imaging — Product description
Lowrance's flagship dual-helm HDS Live tournament-grade fish finder bundle. Two 12-inch HDS Live displays networked over Ethernet, with the Active Imaging 3-in-1 transom-mount transducer (CHIRP + SideScan + DownScan), the Point-1 GPS/GLONASS antenna with internal compass, the LR-1 Bluetooth remote controller, 25-foot Ethernet network cable, and NMEA 2000 starter kit. A complete twin-screen helm ready to wire.
This is the Lowrance HDS Live twin-display tournament bundle, sold as a complete dual-helm kit with everything needed to run two 12-inch HDS Live displays networked together with a single Active Imaging 3-in-1 transom-mount transducer driving both screens. It's the install bass and walleye tournament anglers spec for primary helm plus bow trolling-motor helm, or for sport-fishers wanting a chart-side / sonar-side dual-screen setup at a single helm.
HDS Live is Lowrance's flagship recreational fish-finder platform, built around a quad-core processor that drives the SolarMAX HD touchscreen at full responsiveness even under heavy multi-app load. The 12-inch displays render charts, sonar history, side-scan imagery, and the FishReveal Smart Target View at full pixel density, with ultra-wide viewing angles that stay readable through polarized sunglasses. Touch response is the closest thing to phone-like smoothness in the recreational fish-finder space.
The Active Imaging 3-in-1 transom-mount transducer is the headline sonar piece. It combines three frequency bands and three sonar modes in a single transducer body: Medium and High CHIRP (83 and 200 kHz) for traditional fish-arch sonar and bottom imaging, SideScan at 455 or 800 kHz for off-side structure imaging out to 600 feet per side, and DownScan at 455 or 800 kHz for high-detail picture-like bottom imaging directly under the boat. FishReveal Smart Target View overlays the traditional sonar fish arches on top of the DownScan picture, which makes it dramatically easier to identify fish targets that are otherwise hidden in the structure detail. Active Imaging is also compatible with the LiveSight forward-looking real-time sonar (sold separately) for owners who want to see fish react to lures in real time.
Charting is preloaded with C-MAP US Enhanced coverage, which includes 1-foot depth contours on more than 4,000 inland lakes plus coastal coverage across the US. C-MAP Easy Routing automatically plots safe routes around hazards. Navionics Autorouting is supported for owners who prefer the Navionics chart card. C-MAP Genesis Live lets you record sonar bottom data while you fish and build custom high-detail maps of your local waters on the fly, with the maps displayed on the chartplotter screen immediately.
The Point-1 GPS/GLONASS antenna with internal compass is the navigation backbone. The 10 Hz update rate (10 position updates per second) produces smoother chart movement at high speeds than the typical 1-2 Hz update rate of less-expensive GPS antennas, and the internal compass provides accurate heading data for Heading-Up chart orientation, accurate Course-Over-Ground at low speeds (the kind of speed where a GPS-only heading falls apart), and radar overlay alignment if you add a Lowrance radar later. The Point-1 connects via NMEA 2000.
The LR-1 Bluetooth remote controller is the operational refinement that turns a stationary helm into a controllable-from-anywhere setup. Bluetooth pairing to the HDS Live displays, preprogrammed keys for marking waypoints and zooming, and up to five user-programmable favorite functions accessible from short or long press. For trolling-motor anglers operating from the bow while the displays are at the helm, the LR-1 puts the controls where the operator actually is.
Network integration is comprehensive. The 25-foot Ethernet cable connects the two HDS Live displays so they share sonar, chart, and waypoint data, and so the same Active Imaging transducer drives both screens simultaneously. The NMEA 2000 starter kit includes two terminating resistors, two T-connectors, a 2-foot extension cable, a 15-foot extension cable, and a power node. That's enough NMEA 2000 hardware to run a complete two-display network including the Point-1 GPS antenna, plus capacity to add engine data, fuel data, and AIS in the future.
SmartSteer compatibility extends the HDS Live into the Xi5 trolling motor and Outboard Pilot autopilot ecosystems for hands-free positioning. Built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi handle smartphone notifications, the LiveCast smartphone-screen mirroring feature (video, Google Maps, fishing apps shown on the chartplotter screen), and over-the-air software updates. SonicHub 2 audio server integration handles entertainment audio through the chartplotter.

Frequently asked questions
What's in the bundle?
Two 12-inch HDS Live displays with preloaded C-MAP US Enhanced, one Active Imaging 3-in-1 transom-mount transducer, one Point-1 GPS/GLONASS antenna with internal compass, one LR-1 Bluetooth remote, a 25-foot Ethernet cable, a complete NMEA 2000 starter kit (terminators, T-connectors, extensions, power node), mounting hardware, and the documentation pack.
Why two displays instead of one?
The typical tournament install: one display at the bow trolling-motor station for sonar and waypoint work, one at the main helm for chart and engine data. Or one at a single helm dedicated to sonar with the other showing charts. Networked over Ethernet, the two displays share all data so either can show any feed.
What does the Active Imaging 3-in-1 transducer do?
Three sonar modes in one transducer body. CHIRP at 83 and 200 kHz for traditional fish-arch and bottom imaging. SideScan at 455 or 800 kHz for off-side structure imaging out to 600 feet per side. DownScan at 455 or 800 kHz for high-detail picture-like bottom imaging directly under the boat. FishReveal overlays the CHIRP fish arches on the DownScan picture for easy target identification.
What's FishReveal?
A view mode that overlays the traditional CHIRP sonar fish arches on top of the DownScan structure imagery. Traditional sonar shows fish clearly but loses structure detail. DownScan shows structure beautifully but blends fish in. FishReveal combines them so you see both the fish and the structure on a single screen.
Does the Point-1 GPS antenna do heading?
Yes. The Point-1 has a built-in electronic compass that provides true heading data, which is what enables Heading-Up chart orientation (vs. course-up or north-up), accurate Course-Over-Ground at low speeds, and radar overlay alignment if you add a Lowrance radar later. The 10 Hz GPS update rate produces smooth chart movement at high speeds.
What does the LR-1 remote do?
Bluetooth wireless control of the HDS Live displays. Preprogrammed buttons for marking waypoints, zooming, and other common functions. Plus up to five user-programmable favorite functions accessible from short or long press. The use case is trolling-motor anglers operating from the bow while the displays are at the helm, the LR-1 puts the controls in your hand.
Is the NMEA 2000 backbone complete?
Yes for a typical two-display install with the Point-1 GPS. The starter kit includes two terminating resistors, two T-connectors, a 2-foot extension cable, a 15-foot extension cable, and a power node. That's enough to run a complete two-display network. Adding engines, fuel sensors, AIS, or other NMEA 2000 accessories may require additional cable and T-connectors.
Does it work in saltwater as well as freshwater?
Yes. The displays are rated for marine service, the Active Imaging transducer works in both fresh and salt environments, and the preloaded C-MAP US Enhanced includes both inland lakes and coastal waters. The 1-foot contour data is most detailed on inland lakes, with general coastal coverage for nearshore work.
Can I add radar later?
Yes. The HDS Live supports Lowrance HALO radars over the Ethernet network. The radar overlays on the chart screen with full MARPA and Doppler functionality. Add the radar and Ethernet drop later without changing the network architecture.
Can I record my own maps?
Yes, with C-MAP Genesis Live. As you idle around or fish, the sonar records depth data and the chartplotter builds a custom high-detail map of the water in real time, displayed on screen. The custom maps are saved and can be reloaded on future trips.
Does it support smartphone notifications and screen mirroring?
Yes. Bluetooth pairs the chartplotter to a phone for text and call notifications on the display. Wi-Fi enables LiveCast, which mirrors smartphone screens (video, Google Maps, fishing apps) onto the chartplotter. The chartplotter doesn't run apps directly, it shows the mirrored phone screen.
How much faster is the quad-core processor versus older HDS models?
Substantially. Older HDS Gen 3 and Carbon models ran on dual-core silicon. The quad-core in HDS Live is roughly twice the rendering performance, which shows up as faster chart redraws on pan and zoom, smoother sonar history scroll, and snappier touchscreen response under heavy split-screen loads.
