Raymarine Axiom+ 12 MFD Chartplotter w/Navionics+

The Raymarine Axiom+ 12 is the 12-inch chartplotter in Raymarine's Axiom+ multi-function display family - the refresh of the original Axiom platform that delivered award-winning recreational MFD performance and is now significantly upgraded with faster processing, brighter higher-resolution display, more onboard storage, and refined LightHouse 3 OS features. For boats that want a serious 12-inch MFD at the helm without paying for the very-high-end gS-series flagship MFDs, the Axiom+ 12 hits the sweet spot of features and price.

This variant ships with pre-loaded Navionics+ North America charts. The Navionics+ chart product is the recreational marine chart product covering US and Canadian waters with detailed inland lake mapping, coastal navigation charts, and Sonar Chart layer (community-contributed bathymetry that fills in detail beyond what the official charts show). For US-based boating, Navionics+ is essentially a complete chart solution out of the box - no additional chart purchase required for typical recreational cruising and fishing. For owners traveling internationally or wanting alternative chart products, the Axiom+ also accepts LightHouse charts (Raymarine's free chart product), C-MAP charts (alternative chart product), and other compatible chart formats.

The quad-core processor upgrade. The original Axiom used a single-core processor that was adequate but not exceptional - chart redraws, page switches, and especially split-screen rendering had noticeable lag during demanding operations. The Axiom+ steps that up to a quad-core processor that handles parallel operations dramatically faster. Real-world differences: chart pinch-zoom redraws smoothly without tile-loading delays, split-screen mode switches instantly without freezing the active panel, radar overlay on the chart renders smoothly with full update rates, and the augmented reality (ClearCruise AR) feature operates without lag even when overlaying multiple data layers on the live video feed.

1,800-nit IPS display with 25% more brightness. The Axiom+ display is a higher-resolution IPS panel with brighter backlighting than the original Axiom. The brightness increase matters in direct sun - 1,800 nits is bright enough to stay readable when the sun is directly behind the operator and the screen is fully exposed. IPS panel technology specifically provides wide viewing angles (the operator standing to the side of the helm sees the same colors and contrast you see seated at the helm), high contrast in all lighting conditions, and clean visibility through polarized sunglasses (the polarization angle that makes traditional TN displays go black at certain head angles doesn't affect IPS the same way).

Day/night color palettes. The display includes preset color palettes optimized for daytime use (high-contrast bright colors for sunny conditions) and nighttime use (dim red-themed palettes that preserve night vision while remaining readable). Automatic switching between palettes based on time of day or manual selection at the operator's preference. The night palette is genuinely useful for night cruising or fishing - the full-brightness day palette would blow out your night vision after 30 seconds.

LightHouse 3 OS. Raymarine's LightHouse 3 operating system is the user interface that drives the Axiom+ - smartphone-style touchscreen gestures, fast access to commonly-used functions via swipe gestures and quick-access menus, and integrated apps for navigation, fishfinding, radar, audio, video, and connected boat systems. LightHouse 3 is widely regarded as one of the more intuitive marine MFD operating systems - the learning curve for new users is minimal vs. competing platforms that require more training.

ClearCruise Augmented Reality. This is the Axiom platform's distinctive AR feature - overlay navigation data, AIS targets, waypoints, and other navigational information directly on a live video feed from a forward-facing camera. The result is a heads-up-display experience where you see the boat's surroundings through a camera with navigation guidance overlaid. Particularly useful for tight harbor maneuvering, threading channels in unfamiliar waters, and identifying which dock among several you're heading toward.

10 Hz GPS/GNSS receiver. The built-in GPS receiver updates position 10 times per second (vs. typical 1 Hz for older MFDs) with 4X increased sensitivity vs the previous Axiom generation. Higher update rate provides smoother position tracking on the chart, more accurate course-over-ground calculations, and faster lock times. Higher sensitivity means the GPS stays locked under heavy canopy, in marinas with overhead structure, and in other challenging GPS environments.

HydroTough nano-coated glass. The Axiom+ display glass has a Raymarine-proprietary HydroTough nano-coating that repels water, oil, and smudges. Two practical benefits: (1) Better viewing - the screen stays clear of water drops and fingerprints during use, no constant wiping required to see the display. (2) Better touch response - capacitive touchscreens have trouble registering touches when the screen is wet, but the HydroTough coating prevents water beading that confuses the touch sensor. The screen stays responsive even in rain or spray.

Network with multiple Axiom displays and accessories. The Axiom+ has full Raymarine network capability - share data across multiple Axiom displays at different helm stations, integrate with Raymarine radars (Quantum 2 Doppler radar, Magnum open arrays), sonar modules (CP370, CP470 RealVision 3D, etc.), AIS receivers, audio systems, IP cameras, and Sat WX/Audio receivers. Network with 1Gb Ethernet for high-bandwidth data sharing.

No built-in sonar on this variant. The Axiom+ 12 in this configuration is MFD-only - no built-in sonar transmitter. For fishfinding capability, pair with an external Raymarine sonar module (sold separately) - the CP370 or CP470 series for traditional CHIRP/scanning sonar, the RealVision 3D module for 3D sonar imaging. Many owners specifically want this configuration: dedicated 12-inch chartplotter at the helm + separate sonar module (often serviced from a smaller 9-inch Axiom at a different helm position).

Optional add-ons.
