The Minn Kota Ulterra QUEST 90/115 (MPN 1358501) is the dual-voltage 24/36V brushless Ulterra trolling motor in the QUEST series - the company's flagship rebuild of the iconic Ulterra platform with redesigned mounts, propellers, lift-assist systems, drive motors, and software for the next generation of serious tournament-class trolling. Dual voltage means the same motor delivers 90 lb thrust on 24V or 115 lb thrust on 36V depending on your battery system - giving you upgrade flexibility without changing motors. 45-inch shaft length sized for boats with mid-height bow heights. Auto Stow & Deploy and Power Trim let you stow, deploy, and trim the motor without touching it - control from the wireless remote with LCD, the included programmable heel-toe foot pedal (18-foot cord), the One-Boat Network mobile app, or a compatible fish finder. Built-in transducer delivers MEGA Side Imaging AND MEGA Down Imaging directly to compatible fish finders without external transducer hardware. Advanced GPS trolling system: Spot-Lock with Jog (5-foot increments), Drift Mode for hands-free wind / current navigation, recorded paths, AutoPilot. Real-time battery monitoring with eco-mode prompt at 20%. Digital Maximizer extends battery life up to 5x. Indestructible composite shaft.

The Minn Kota Ulterra QUEST 90/115 is the dual-voltage brushless rebuild of the company's flagship Ulterra trolling motor - the QUEST series being a complete from-the-ground-up redesign of every component (mounts, propellers, lift-assist systems, drive motors, software) for tournament-class anglers who demand the absolute best from their equipment. Minn Kota has been the dominant US trolling motor brand for decades. the Ulterra is their flagship bow-mount with the headline auto stow / deploy feature. the QUEST series is the current production refresh. For owners installing a top-tier trolling motor on a serious bass / walleye / saltwater inshore boat, this is the right choice and you won't outgrow it.

Dual voltage 24V / 36V flexibility. The 90/115 designation means the same motor delivers 90 pounds of thrust when wired for 24V (two batteries in series) or 115 pounds of thrust when wired for 36V (three batteries in series). For owners running 24V systems, you get 90 lb thrust now with the option to upgrade to a 36V battery bank later for more thrust without buying a new motor. For owners already running 36V, you get the full 115 lb thrust right out of the box. The dual-voltage capability is the key practical difference vs older single-voltage Minn Kota motors - one motor works across two battery system configurations - that's meaningful flexibility you don't get from older fixed-voltage motors.

Brushless motor technology. The QUEST series moves from brushed motors (the traditional design) to brushless motors. Three real benefits: longer service life (no brushes to wear out, motor life is effectively unlimited under normal use - the brushed-motor variants lasted thousands of hours but eventually wore out and required brush replacement), better thermal performance (the brushless motor runs cooler at the same thrust output, which means less duty-cycle limit and more sustained power without thermal cutout), and meaningfully higher efficiency at the prop (more thrust per amp drawn from the battery, which translates directly into longer runtime per battery charge).

115 lb thrust on 36V. At full 36V wiring, the QUEST 90/115 delivers 115 lb of thrust - enough to handle bigger boats (typical 18-22 ft bass / walleye / inshore center consoles), heavy current and wind conditions, and the kind of all-day tournament-class fishing where motor capability matters. It's the right choice when you're pushing a heavy boat in real wind. Thrust ratings on trolling motors are equivalent to horsepower ratings on outboards - more thrust means the motor can push a heavier boat against more wind / current while keeping up control speed. For boats running below 18 feet or in calm conditions, the 90 lb thrust at 24V is plenty and you'll save battery weight.

45-inch shaft length. The shaft length determines how deep the prop sits below the waterline when the motor is deployed. 45 inches is the mid-tier length - appropriate for boats with bow heights in the 18-22 inch range above the waterline (typical aluminum and fiberglass bass / walleye boats). For taller bow heights (deep-V offshore boats, raised decks), a longer 52- or 60-inch shaft is the right call. For very low bows (small jon boats, shallow draft hulls), a shorter 36- or 42-inch shaft is correct. Match the shaft length to your specific bow height for proper prop depth - too short and the prop cavitates near the surface in waves. too long and the prop drags or hits bottom.

Auto Stow & Deploy. The signature Ulterra feature - press a button on the wireless remote, the foot pedal, the mobile app, or a compatible fish finder, and the motor automatically lifts itself into the stowed position (or deploys back into the water). For older trolling motors without auto-stow, deploying the motor required manually pulling a release rope and lowering the heavy motor by hand - a chore that gets old fast and isn't safe in heavy seas, especially on bigger motors and rough water. Auto stow / deploy eliminates that work and lets you stow / deploy from anywhere on the boat without leaving the helm. It's the feature that makes Ulterra what it is.

Power Trim. The same button-press control extends to motor trim - raise or lower the motor depth without bending over to grab the shaft. Critical for adjusting prop depth as conditions change (deeper water for clean prop wash, shallower for scrambling over weed beds), and for raising the motor to clear obstructions during travel without fully stowing. Trim from the foot pedal, the remote, the app, or a compatible fish finder - same control surfaces that handle stow / deploy.

Advanced GPS trolling system. The QUEST series uses GPS for full automated boat positioning. Features: Spot-Lock (the motor uses GPS to hold the boat in a fixed location regardless of wind / current - press the button when you find a productive spot, the motor takes over and keeps you there until you cancel), Spot-Lock with Jog (move the Spot-Lock location 5 feet in any direction with the press of a directional button - useful when the school is just off your initial Spot-Lock position), Recorded Paths (the motor records the path you trolled and can replay it identically on subsequent passes), AutoPilot (motor maintains a constant heading regardless of wind / current), and constant-speed control independent of wind / current.

Drift Mode. The newest of the QUEST GPS features - Drift Mode lets you specify a drift direction and speed, and the motor automatically maintains that drift even in heavy wind and current. For walleye and panfish anglers who fish drifting techniques, Drift Mode replaces drift socks, kicker motors, and manual rudder management with one button press. Point-and-shoot navigation across any wind / current conditions.

Built-in MEGA Side & Down Imaging transducer. The motor includes a built-in transducer that delivers sister-brand MEGA-class Side Imaging AND MEGA Down Imaging directly to compatible fish finders - no external transducer to mount, no separate cabling on the bow, no shoot-through-hull installation issues. The transducer is integrated into the motor body where it has clean water access and the right mounting geometry for imaging. For owners running compatible fish finders with MEGA Imaging support, this is the cleanest install in the fishing kayak / bass boat market - one cable run, one mount, one integrated system.

One-Boat Network compatibility. The QUEST series is compatible with the One-Boat Network ecosystem - the connectivity standard that ties the trolling motor, compatible fish finders, and mobile app into one integrated system. The motor and the fish finder talk to each other directly, share waypoints, share Spot-Lock positions, and let you control either device from the other's interface. The mobile app gives you a third control surface that works from anywhere on the boat or even from the dock during pre-trip setup.

Wireless remote with LCD. The included wireless remote has a back-lit LCD screen that displays motor status, GPS position, heading, speed, depth, and Spot-Lock controls. The remote is the primary control surface for most anglers - it goes on a lanyard around your neck or clipped to your shirt, and gives you full motor control without taking your hands off the rod or your eyes off the water. The LCD readability is meaningful in bright sunlight (a frequent issue on cheaper remotes that wash out in direct sun).

Heel-toe programmable foot pedal. The included electric foot pedal is the cable-connected primary control with steering, speed, stow / deploy, and trim controls. The user-programmable button on the pedal gets one-touch access to the most-used feature - mark a waypoint, engage AutoPilot, deploy / retract a Talon shallow water anchor, etc. 18-foot cord lets you mount the pedal anywhere on the deck. Heel-toe steering input is the traditional bass-boat trolling motor interface and remains the fastest control surface for active fishing.

Real-time battery monitoring. The motor displays current battery state of charge in real time on the remote LCD - including a 'time until empty' estimate based on current draw. At 20% remaining, the system prompts you to enter Eco-mode, which reduces current draw to extend the remaining run time. The real-time monitoring is the difference between fishing all day and getting stuck halfway out from the launch with a dead battery.

Digital Maximizer. The motor's variable-speed control delivers exactly the current the prop needs at the commanded speed - older trolling motors used pulse-width-modulation that wasted energy at lower speeds. Digital Maximizer reduces wasted energy and provides up to 5 times longer runtime per battery charge at lower speeds. For typical fishing where most of the day is spent at 1-3 mph speeds (vs occasional bursts up to top speed), Digital Maximizer is the feature that lets you fish all day on one charge.

Indestructible composite shaft. The shaft is built from the QUEST-series indestructible composite (a glass / carbon composite tuned for impact resistance and corrosion resistance) - takes hits from submerged stumps, rocks, and dock pilings without breaking. The composite shaft is meaningfully tougher than the older aluminum shafts on legacy Minn Kota motors. For boats that fish stumpy, rocky, or otherwise hostile water (typical bass / walleye lakes), the shaft toughness directly translates into longer motor life.

Install. Mount the bow-side bracket to the boat's bow using the supplied hardware. Wire the trolling motor to the battery bank via heavy-gauge marine-grade tinned cable (Minn Kota recommends 6 AWG for 24V or 4 AWG for 36V at typical run lengths). Connect the foot pedal cable to the motor. Configure the wireless remote and pair it to the motor. Pair to compatible fish finders if running One-Boat Network integration. Total install runs 4-8 hours depending on boat complexity. If you're not comfortable with marine-grade DC wiring at this current level, have a marine electronics shop do it.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between 90 lb and 115 lb thrust?

Same motor. The 90 lb rating is when you wire it for 24V (two batteries in series). The 115 lb rating is when you wire it for 36V (three batteries in series). The dual-voltage capability lets you run 24V now and upgrade to 36V later without buying a new motor - just add the third battery and re-wire. For boats over 18 feet or in heavy wind / current conditions, the 36V / 115 lb config is the right choice. For smaller boats or calmer conditions, 24V / 90 lb is plenty.

Will the 45-inch shaft fit my boat?

45 inches is the mid-tier shaft length, appropriate for boats with bow heights of 18-22 inches above the waterline (typical aluminum and fiberglass bass / walleye boats). For taller bow heights (deep-V offshore boats, raised-deck bass boats), a 52-inch or 60-inch shaft is needed. For very low bows (small jon boats, shallow-draft skiffs), a 36-inch or 42-inch shaft is right. Measure your bow height (waterline to where the trolling motor mount sits) before ordering and pick the shaft length that puts the prop 4-6 inches below the waterline when deployed.

What's MEGA Side and Down Imaging?

MEGA imaging is the high-frequency sonar imaging technology that produces ultra-clear images of fish, structure, and bottom contour. Side Imaging looks left and right of the boat, Down Imaging looks straight down. The MEGA-class transducer built into the QUEST motor delivers both modes directly to compatible fish finders without an external transducer. For owners running MEGA-compatible fish finders, this is a clean integrated install with no extra mounting or cabling on the bow.

What's Spot-Lock?

Spot-Lock uses GPS to hold the boat in a fixed location regardless of wind and current. Press the Spot-Lock button when you find a productive fishing spot, the motor takes over and keeps you precisely there - typical accuracy is within a few feet of the original location. For bass tournament fishing, walleye fishing over isolated structure, or saltwater inshore work where you want to stay on a specific reef or weed bed, Spot-Lock replaces anchoring entirely. Spot-Lock with Jog lets you move the locked position 5 feet in any direction without dropping the lock.

What's Drift Mode?

Drift Mode lets you specify a drift direction and target speed, and the motor automatically maintains that drift even in wind and current. Replaces drift socks, kicker motor manual rudder work, and constant manual trolling motor adjustment for drift fishing techniques. For walleye anglers, panfish anglers, or salmon trollers running drift presentations, Drift Mode is the killer GPS feature - the motor handles the boat positioning while you focus on fishing.

How long do the batteries last?

Depends on battery capacity and how hard you run the motor. Typical 24V or 36V battery banks (each battery 100Ah AGM or lithium) give 4-8 hours of fishing-level use (mostly low-speed trolling) per charge. Brushless motor efficiency and Digital Maximizer combine for meaningfully longer runtime than older brushed motors at the same battery capacity. Real-time battery monitoring on the remote shows you how much runtime remains.

Can I use lithium batteries?

Yes - the QUEST series is compatible with lithium battery banks (LiFePO4) and includes the appropriate low-voltage protection profiles. For owners doing the math on lithium vs lead-acid: lithium is more expensive upfront but lighter (typically 1/3 the weight of equivalent AGM), faster to charge, and lasts more cycles. For tournament anglers where weight savings matter and the cost premium is justified, lithium is the right call.

What's the foot pedal for?

The heel-toe electric foot pedal is the primary hands-free control surface for active fishing - steering input through heel / toe pressure on the pedal, speed control via the speed roller, plus dedicated buttons for stow / deploy, trim, and the user-programmable feature. The 18-foot cord lets you mount the pedal anywhere on the deck. Heel-toe steering remains the fastest control surface for active bass / walleye fishing where you're constantly adjusting boat position while casting.

What's the wireless remote do?

The wireless remote is the secondary control surface - GPS feature engagement (Spot-Lock, AutoPilot, Drift Mode), waypoint marking, motor stow / deploy, trim, and full status display on the back-lit LCD. The remote goes on a lanyard around your neck and gives you full motor control without using the foot pedal - useful when you're moving around the boat, when you want to engage Spot-Lock from anywhere on deck, or when you just want a hands-free GPS interface that doesn't tie up the helm.

Why brushless motors?

Brushless motors have three real advantages over the older brushed-motor design: longer service life (no brushes to wear out, motor life is effectively unlimited under normal use), better thermal performance (cooler operation lets the motor sustain full thrust without thermal cutout), and higher efficiency (more thrust per amp drawn from the battery, which directly extends runtime). Brushed motors lasted thousands of hours but eventually needed brush service. brushless eliminates that maintenance entirely.

What about saltwater use?

The QUEST series is rated for saltwater use. The corrosion-resistant materials, sealed motor housing, and waterproof connectors handle saltwater conditions across typical recreational use. Rinse with fresh water after each saltwater trip - rinse the motor body, the prop, and especially the underside where the prop meets the lower unit. Inspect the prop and skeg periodically for galvanic corrosion and replace the sacrificial anode if equipped.

What's the warranty?

Standard Minn Kota warranty terms apply - typically 2 years on the motor, with the QUEST series adding extended coverage on specific premium components like the brushless motor and the indestructible composite shaft. Service runs through the Minn Kota authorized service network. Save the receipt and original packaging if practical for warranty service.
