What's the difference between the 426 xHD2 and the 12kW xHD2?

How does it compare to a Fantom solid-state radar?
Different technology. The xHD2 is magnetron radar. Fantom is solid-state Doppler. Fantom adds MotionScope color-coding for moving targets (red for closing, green for receding) and has no magnetron warm-up cycle. Realistic detection on a small target is shorter than the 72 nm maximum range. The 72 nm number is the on-screen maximum, not the detection guarantee.
Does MARPA need a heading sensor?
Yes. MARPA target tracking requires a heading reference from a compatible NMEA 2000 heading sensor or autopilot to compute target course and speed. Without it you still get the radar picture, just no automated tracking with vector overlays. If you don't have a heading sensor, plan on adding one as part of the install.
What's the warm-up time?
About 90 seconds from cold start for the magnetron to stabilize. That's standard for magnetron radar across the marine industry. If you want zero warm-up, the Fantom solid-state radar is the alternative.
