MotorGuide Tour Pro 109 lb 36V Pinpoint GPS Cable Steer 45" — Product description

The MotorGuide Tour Pro 109 lb / 45 inch / 36V is the top-of-the-line freshwater bow-mount cable-steer trolling motor with integrated Pinpoint GPS anchoring. The only true cable-steer trolling motor on the market with GPS anchor capability - so you get the precision and reliability of cable steering combined with GPS-anchor functionality (Anchor, Jog, Heading Lock, Cruise Control). 109 pounds of thrust at 36V (the maximum thrust class for freshwater bow-mount), 45-inch two-piece shaft with oversized stainless steel outer (no-flex steering loads), variable-speed forward control, 41-amp current draw at full thrust, lithium-ion battery compatible. Zero-G lift assist with Bulldog latches and nitrogen gas spring (roughly half the effort needed versus competitor lift-assist mounts), 360-degree breakaway mount (saves the motor on rock / stump impacts), no-flex metal foot pedal, LED dashboard (power, battery, GPS status), wireless GPS control standard. The new two-blade Katana Prop is the latest MotorGuide propeller design.

The MotorGuide Tour Pro takes everything MotorGuide has learned about trolling motors over the past several decades and combines it into the highest-performing freshwater bow-mount cable-steer trolling motor on the market. The 109-pound thrust / 45-inch / 36V configuration is the top of the Tour Pro line and the right choice for serious tournament fishermen and dedicated bass / walleye anglers running larger fiberglass bass boats and walleye boats where maximum thrust, GPS-anchor precision, and cable-steer responsiveness all matter.

The cable-steer + GPS anchor combination - what makes Tour Pro unique. Most GPS-equipped trolling motors are electric-steer (the foot pedal sends an electronic signal to a servo motor that physically rotates the trolling motor head). Cable steer (the foot pedal physically rotates the head via a mechanical cable) has been the preferred platform for serious tournament fishermen because of its instant response and long-term reliability - but cable-steer trolling motors historically didn't offer GPS anchor functionality. The Tour Pro is the only true cable-steer trolling motor with integrated GPS anchor, so for the first time anglers can have both the responsive feel of cable steering AND the convenience of GPS anchoring without compromise.

Pinpoint GPS anchoring - 3x more precise. MotorGuide's Pinpoint GPS technology is the company's GPS-anchor algorithm. The marketing claim is 3x the positional precision of competitor GPS-anchor systems - meaning the boat stays meaningfully closer to the saved GPS position even in current and wind. Real-world: hold position over a brush pile in 8 feet of water with current, and the Tour Pro keeps your jig in the strike zone where competitor systems may drift far enough you have to recast every few minutes. Matters for vertical-jig, drop-shot, and small-structure work.

GPS feature set - Anchor, Jog, Heading Lock, Cruise Control. Anchor (the standard GPS-anchor feature - boat holds the saved position regardless of wind / current). Jog (nudge the anchored position several feet in any direction without breaking lock - useful for systematically working a piece of structure). Heading Lock (the boat maintains a heading while you drift or troll, the trolling motor steers to keep the heading constant against wind / current). Cruise Control (set a speed and the motor maintains it regardless of wind / current loading). The four features together give you the GPS-feature set that defines a modern serious bass-fishing trolling motor.

109 pounds of thrust at 36V. The 109-lb thrust rating is sized for larger fiberglass bass boats (20-21 foot class) and walleye boats running on a 36V battery bank (three 12V batteries in series). The thrust handles wind and current loading on these boat sizes for typical tournament fishing - the Tour Pro is a tournament-class motor, not a casual recreational pick. Lower-thrust Tour Pro variants (82 lb at 24V, etc.) are available for smaller boats or for anglers who don't need the full 109 lb capacity.

Two-piece shaft with oversized stainless steel outer. The 45-inch shaft is a two-piece construction: an oversized stainless steel outer shaft handles the high steering loads of cable-steer operation without flexing (cable-steer puts more rotational stress on the shaft than electric steer because the cable applies torque directly to the upper shaft), and an inner composite material flexes on impact (hits a stump, the inner composite absorbs the shock without transferring it to the outer shaft). The combination is meaningfully more durable than single-material shafts under cable-steer loading.

Zero-G lift assist with Bulldog latches. Stowing and deploying a 109-lb-thrust trolling motor is heavy work - the motor head, shaft, and prop together weigh meaningfully more than smaller trolling motors. The Zero-G lift assist system uses a powerful nitrogen gas spring to make the lifting effort roughly half of what competitor lift-assist mounts require. Patented Bulldog latches bite down to lock the motor in the deployed or stowed position, and release on command for the next motion - so you don't have to fight the motor to get it to stay where you want it. For all-day tournament fishing where you may stow / deploy the motor 30-50 times per day, the Zero-G system is the difference between fresh arms at sunset and exhausted arms by mid-afternoon.

360-degree breakaway mount. The mount is engineered to break away in a 360-degree rotation if the motor strikes an underwater obstacle (rock, stump, log) at speed - the motor pivots out of the way rather than transferring the impact to the mount or the boat structure. After clearing the obstruction, the motor returns to its operational position. Without breakaway, a high-speed impact can rip the motor off or crack the bow structure. The safety feature that matters when running fast over unfamiliar water.

No-flex metal foot pedal. The foot pedal is a solid metal upper foot pad with premium grip tape - no flex under foot pressure (typical plastic pedals flex slightly which translates to imprecise steering input), no slip even when wet. Large push-control buttons for GPS Anchor, Heading Lock, and Constant On are positioned for natural toe / heel operation. The pedal lets you set your course and focus on fishing rather than constantly fiddling with the controls.

LED dashboard. The trolling motor head has an integrated LED dashboard showing power on / off status, battery state of charge, and GPS lock status. Quick visual confirmation that the system is operating correctly without needing to interface with a separate controller or app. Useful when troubleshooting (no GPS lock = the LED tells you, no battery = the LED tells you).

Lithium-ion battery compatible. The Tour Pro is engineered to work with lithium-ion (LiFePO4) battery banks in 36V configurations - the modern best-practice for tournament-grade trolling motor power (lighter than lead-acid for the same capacity, longer cycle life, more usable capacity per Ah rating, full voltage delivery even at low state of charge). The Tour Pro handles fully-charged lithium voltages without the protection-circuit issues some older motors have.

Two-blade Katana Prop. The new Katana Prop is MotorGuide's latest propeller design - engineered for maximum thrust efficiency at the variable speeds the Tour Pro runs. The two-blade design is the typical MotorGuide propeller configuration - reduces weed wrapping versus three-blade props and gives clean water flow at the typical bass-fishing speed range.

Wireless GPS control standard. The handheld wireless GPS controller is included - lets you control the GPS-anchor and steering functions from anywhere on the boat without using the foot pedal. Useful for casting from positions away from the bow, for the partner / co-angler to control the trolling motor while the boat captain fights a fish, or for anchoring quickly from a position where the foot pedal isn't accessible.

Install. Bolt the breakaway mount to the boat's bow using stainless steel through-bolts and the supplied mounting hardware. Drop the trolling motor into the mount, engage the Bulldog latches. Wire the motor's positive lead through a 50A circuit fuse to the 36V battery bank's positive terminal, negative lead direct to the bank's negative terminal. Route the steering cable from the motor head to the foot pedal location. Pair the wireless GPS controller per the included instructions. Total install time is typically 4-6 hours for a competent boat owner.

Two-year limited warranty. Standard MotorGuide warranty terms apply.

Frequently asked questions

Why cable-steer if it has GPS?

The Tour Pro is the only true cable-steer trolling motor with GPS anchor. Cable-steer (the foot pedal mechanically rotates the motor head via a cable) has been the preferred platform for tournament fishermen because of its instant response and long-term reliability versus electric steer (which has servo-motor delay and electronic-board failure modes). Until the Tour Pro, you had to choose: cable steer for steering feel OR electric steer for GPS anchor. The Tour Pro gives you both.

What boat is it for?

Larger fiberglass bass boats (20-21 foot class) and walleye boats running on 36V battery banks. The 109-lb thrust is sized for serious tournament fishing on these boat sizes, where you need maximum thrust to handle wind and current loading. For smaller boats or 24V battery setups, lower-thrust Tour Pro variants (82 lb at 24V, etc.) are the right choice. For aluminum jon boats or small bass boats, the smaller MotorGuide series (Xi3, Xi5) is over-spec'd.

What does Pinpoint GPS do?

MotorGuide's GPS-anchor algorithm. The Anchor function holds the boat at a saved GPS position regardless of wind / current. The Jog function nudges the anchored position several feet in any direction without breaking lock (useful for systematically working structure). Heading Lock maintains a constant heading while drifting or trolling. Cruise Control sets a constant speed against wind / current. The marketing claim is 3x the positional precision of competitor GPS-anchor systems - meaningful for staying precisely over small structure in current.

What batteries do I need?

Three 12V deep-cycle marine batteries wired in series for 36V operation. Lithium-ion (LiFePO4 in three 12V configurations or one 36V LiFePO4 bank) is the modern best-practice - lighter than lead-acid, longer cycle life, more usable capacity per Ah rating. Standard tournament boats run a dedicated 36V trolling motor bank separate from the cranking battery. Wire through a 50A circuit fuse on the positive lead.

How long does the battery last?

Highly variable. At moderate fishing speeds (the typical 30-50% of full thrust), a properly sized 36V battery bank (three 100Ah lead-acid or 100Ah lithium) typically powers the Tour Pro 109 for 6-9 hours of intermittent fishing. At full thrust against heavy wind / current, runtime drops dramatically. Real-world tournament use with intermittent thrust application: 8-10 hour fishing days are typical on a properly sized bank.

What's the Zero-G lift assist?

MotorGuide's stow / deploy mechanism. A powerful nitrogen gas spring assists the lifting motion when you raise the trolling motor for transit, requiring roughly half the effort of competitor lift-assist mounts. Patented Bulldog latches lock the motor in the deployed or stowed position and release on command. For all-day tournament fishing with 30-50 stow / deploy cycles per day, the Zero-G system meaningfully reduces fatigue versus traditional spring-assist mounts.

What about saltwater?

The Tour Pro is a freshwater motor. Saltwater service requires a different MotorGuide line engineered with stainless hardware, sealed electronics, and salt-resistant materials. Using a freshwater Tour Pro in saltwater voids the warranty and dramatically shortens the motor's lifespan from corrosion. For saltwater, look at the MotorGuide Xi5 saltwater variants.

Is the wireless remote included?

Yes - the wireless GPS controller is standard, no separate purchase required. The handheld remote lets you control GPS-anchor and steering functions from anywhere on the boat without using the foot pedal. Useful for casting positions away from the bow, for the partner / co-angler to control the trolling motor while the boat captain is busy, or for anchoring from a position where the foot pedal isn't accessible.

What's the breakaway mount?

The mount is engineered to break away in a 360-degree rotation if the trolling motor strikes an underwater obstacle (rock, stump, log) at speed. Without breakaway, a high-speed impact can rip the trolling motor off the boat or crack the bow mounting structure. With 360-degree breakaway, the motor pivots out of the way at impact, then returns to its operational position after clearing the obstacle. The safety feature that matters when running fast over unfamiliar water.

Why the two-piece shaft?

Cable-steer operation puts more rotational stress on the shaft than electric steer (the cable applies torque directly to the upper shaft). The Tour Pro's two-piece shaft handles this: an oversized stainless steel outer shaft for the steering loads (no flex under cable torque), and an inner composite material that flexes on impact for stump-strike protection. The combination is meaningfully more durable than single-material shafts under cable-steer loading.

What's the Katana Prop?

MotorGuide's latest two-blade propeller design. Engineered for maximum thrust efficiency at the variable speeds the Tour Pro runs. The two-blade design reduces weed wrapping versus three-blade props and gives clean water flow at the typical bass-fishing speed range. Replacement props are available through the MotorGuide parts network.

What's the warranty?

Two-year limited warranty (covers manufacturing defects under normal use). Service runs through the MotorGuide authorized service network. MotorGuide is a Brunswick / Mercury Marine company so service availability is broad through Mercury / Brunswick dealers in addition to MotorGuide-specific dealers.
