The Intellian i6 is the brand's mid-range marine satellite TV antenna, designed for boats over 65 feet that need reliable Ku-Band reception across coastal and blue-water US, Caribbean, and Latin American regions. The 60-cm (23.6-inch) reflector is sized for the most demanding combination of distance from the satellite and motion of the vessel underwater, with Intellian's signature tracking technologies handling the rest.

Wide Range Search (WRS) is Intellian's fast-acquisition algorithm. When the system powers up or loses signal, WRS sweeps the sky for the target satellite in a fraction of the time conventional fixed-step search algorithms take. The statistical-search engine reduces the time-to-first-lock substantially, which matters when you've just powered up after a long passage or when you're emerging from a heavy weather cell that blocked line-of-sight to the satellite.

Dynamic Beam Tilting (DBT) is the underway tracking differentiator. Most marine satellite antennas use a fixed dish that has to physically rotate the entire assembly to compensate for boat motion. DBT rotates a smaller sub-reflector with a high-speed brushless DC motor inside the main dish, which means the system can compensate for vessel pitch, roll, and yaw faster than a conventional 2-axis stabilization system can manage. The result is solid signal lock at high cruising speeds and in rough sea conditions where lesser antennas would lose signal repeatedly.

The All Americas LNB configuration is the LNB (Low-Noise Block downconverter) tuned for the satellite frequencies used by US, Mexican, Caribbean, and Latin American satellite TV operators. The i6 with the All Americas LNB receives Ku-Band signals from 10.7 to 12.75 GHz across both LHCP/RHCP and Horizontal/Vertical polarization, giving it access to the full DirecTV, Dish Network, and Bell satellite TV service lineups in this region. For DirecTV users specifically, the i6 receives the full range of SD (standard-definition) channels. For HD DirecTV programming, the larger i6HD or s6HD is the upgrade path. For Dish Network HD, the optional Intellian MIM Switch (M2-TD02) enables automatic satellite-switching for the full Dish HD lineup.

The Antenna Control Unit (ACU) is where the recent generation's smart upgrades concentrate. Built-in HD module and TriSat function let the i6 receive HDTV channels from leading satellite TV service providers directly through the ACU, no separate decoder is needed. WiFi connectivity to the ACU lets you run upgrades and system diagnostics through the Aptus mobile app from any phone or tablet, no PC and no serial-cable required. Automatic diagnosis flags antenna health issues before they become field-service calls.

The single-cable design between dome and ACU is the install advantage. Conventional satellite antennas require separate cables for RF signal, control, and power. The i6 uses one coaxial cable for everything, dramatically simplifying the radar-mast-to-helm cable run. The kit includes a 15-meter (49 ft) RG6 antenna-to-ACU cable, which covers most boats up to 80-90 feet. For longer runs, optional longer cables are available.

The 2-axis step motor on the antenna pedestal handles the gross positioning (azimuth and elevation pointing to the satellite), with DBT handling the fine corrections for boat motion. The 44-pound dome is sized small enough to fit on a typical large-yacht radar arch without overhang concerns, and the radome itself is the all-white aerodynamic Intellian profile that minimizes wind drag and looks integrated with modern flybridges.

Built-in GPS feeds position data to the antenna control logic, which uses GPS to calculate the look angle to the target satellite from the boat's current position. The result is faster acquisition (no need to manually enter latitude/longitude), and automatic re-acquisition after blockages without operator intervention. NMEA 0183 GPS interface is also available for installations where an existing chart-plotter GPS is preferred over the built-in.

The kit ships with everything needed for a typical install. The radome with 60-cm reflector and All Americas LNB. The ACU with WiFi connectivity for upgrades and built-in HD module.
