The Raymarine Axiom Pro 12 S MFD (part E70482-00-NAG) is the 12-inch member of the Axiom Pro S line, the chartplotter-and-sonar configuration in the Axiom Pro lineup without the RealVision 3D high-end sonar package. Built-in single-channel high CHIRP sonar, the WXGA 1280 x 800 optical-bonded IPS touchscreen, the quad-core processor that powers the fastest map drawing and most responsive chartplotter operation in the Raymarine recreational lineup, and the Navionics+ USA and Coastal Canada chart preloaded ready to navigate from day one. For owners who want the Axiom Pro display and full networking capability without needing the RealVision 3D plus 1kW CHIRP package that the Axiom Pro RVX variant includes, the S variant is the right choice at lower cost.

What separates Axiom Pro S from Axiom Pro RVX. The S variant has built-in single-channel high CHIRP sonar (the standard 2D fish-arch sonar with CHIRP modulation for tight target separation). The RVX variant adds RealVision 3D and 1kW CHIRP sonar built in (significantly more capable but more expensive). For owners who already have a separate sonar BlackBox module, who fish with traditional 2D sonar primarily, or who don't need the high-end RealVision 3D structure visualization, the S saves money without giving up anything else: same display, same processor, same networking, same chart bundle.

The 12-inch WXGA 1280 x 800 IPS touchscreen is the practical sweet spot for serious offshore center consoles and cruisers. Big enough for genuinely usable split-screen presentations (chart plus sonar plus radar plus instruments in four panels), small enough to fit most helm dashes without the dramatic dash modifications that 16-inch MFDs require. Optical bonding eliminates the air gap between the touchscreen layer and the LCD, which means no internal reflections and much better outdoor readability under direct sun.

HybridTouch control combines the touchscreen interface with physical buttons and a control knob on the right side of the bezel. Touchscreen handles operations that touch is good at: zoom, pan, select, navigate menus. The hardware buttons handle operations that touch is bad at when the screen is wet or your hands are salty: marking waypoints, switching pages, confirming critical inputs. The combination is more reliable in real marine conditions than a pure touchscreen interface.

Quad-core processor is the headline performance specification. Older MFDs with single or dual-core processors slow down or stutter when running multiple apps simultaneously (especially when sonar and radar are both running). The quad-core processor in the Axiom Pro handles all the typical helm apps simultaneously without noticeable slowdown. App switching is instant, chart panning is smooth, sonar updates without lag.

Single-channel high CHIRP sonar built into the MFD covers traditional 2D sonar use without requiring a separate sonar module. Connect a compatible CHIRP transducer (multiple options sold separately based on your boat and fishing target) and the Axiom Pro 12 S delivers fish-arch and bottom-detail sonar imagery. For most recreational and inshore fishing, single-channel CHIRP is plenty. For serious offshore deep-water work where you need the higher-power 1kW sonar, step up to the RVX variant.

The Navionics+ USA and Coastal Canada chart preloaded covers all U.S. coastal and inland waters and the Canadian coast. Vector charts with high-resolution depth shading, easy-routing for automatic safe-route generation, integrated tide and current overlays, and Auto Guidance for automatic destination routing. Updates over the air via the RayConnect app and a paired smartphone, so you don't have to swap chart cards to get the latest data. Trusted by the U.S. Coast Guard. The same Axiom Pro chartplotting, AIS, and radar technologies that recreational owners use are deployed on Coast Guard vessels for navigation and search-and-rescue operations. The Coast Guard validation is independent confirmation that the Axiom Pro platform delivers commercial-grade reliability and accuracy.

Networking. NMEA 2000 for engine, autopilot, instrument, and accessory data. NMEA 0183 for legacy electronics integration. SeaTalkng (via included DeviceNet adapter) for the Raymarine ecosystem. Two RayNet Ethernet ports for high-speed networking with additional Axiom displays, Cyclone or Quantum solid-state radar domes, sonar BlackBox modules, video monitoring cameras, and the broader Raymarine ecosystem. Cyclone and Quantum solid-state radar compatibility connects directly via the rear-panel radar port and the RayNet Ethernet network. Cyclone is the latest-generation Raymarine radar with very high target resolution and the integrated Doppler bird-finder for offshore tournament use. Quantum is the proven solid-state pulse-compression radar that's now the standard for most recreational offshore use. Either dome shows up as a chart overlay or in a dedicated radar panel.

ClearCruise Augmented Reality is the optional upgrade that overlays AIS targets and chart objects onto a high-definition video feed from a paired marine camera. With ClearCruise AR enabled, you see the actual scene out the bow with AIS targets and chart features superimposed in real positions, which makes situational awareness in busy harbors and at night much easier than mentally translating between the chart and the visual scene.

Sailing-specific features. Dynamic laylines overlays show the lines you'd need to sail to reach an upwind mark on each tack. Polar performance data shows your boat's actual performance vs. its theoretical performance based on wind and angle. Graphical sailing dashboard displays show wind, speed, and trim data in formats designed for sailors. For sailing applications, the Axiom Pro 12 S serves the same role as in powerboat installs but with the sailing-specific tools turned on.

Compatible with thermal camera integration via the Raymarine ecosystem. With a paired thermal camera, the Axiom Pro displays the camera feed alongside the chart and offers ClearCruise IR object detection for automatic hazard alerting. Useful for offshore night running where the thermal camera sees what the eye and standard radar both miss.

What this MFD isn't. It is not the Axiom Pro 12 RVX (which adds RealVision 3D and 1kW CHIRP sonar built in for higher cost). It is not the smaller Axiom Pro 9 S or Axiom Pro 16 S (those are the smaller and larger displays in the same line).
