Adhesive-lined heat shrink

Marine heat shrink is not the bare hardware-store kind. Adhesive-lined tubing melts a glue layer as it shrinks, sealing the connection against moisture and adding strain relief. It comes in shrink ratios like 3 to 1 for snug coverage over connectors and lugs, in sizes from small signal wire up to 1-inch tubing for battery cable. Match the tubing diameter to the cable so it shrinks down tight.

Color coding and organization

Color-coded shrink and ties keep positive, negative, and circuits identified, which makes troubleshooting far easier later. Use UV-stable black ties anywhere sun reaches, and bundle runs so they are supported and chafe-free.

Match it to the job

For battery cable, use the larger adhesive-lined tubing to seal big lugs. For signal and branch wiring, smaller tubing and ties keep it tidy. Buy a few sizes so you have the right diameter on hand mid-project.
