The Humminbird HELIX 12 CHIRP MEGA DI+ GPS G4N CHO Display Only is the 12.1-inch fourth-generation HELIX series fishfinder / chartplotter in the Control Head Only (CHO) configuration. It's shipped without a bundled transducer so you can pair the head unit with the specific transducer that's right for your boat, trolling motor, and fishing applications.

Why CHO (Control Head Only)? Two practical reasons to choose CHO over a bundled-transducer configuration: (1) Compatible compatible trolling motor Built-in MEGA Imaging trolling motor - if you have a compatible compatible trolling motor motor with integrated MEGA transducer (the select One-Boat Network trolling motor models lines with built-in transducer option), the integrated transducer outputs MEGA sonar directly to a compatible HELIX. The CHO config saves you from paying for a separate transducer you don't need. (2) Specific transducer needs - some boats need a thru-hull transducer (typical for inboard / sterndrive boats), an in-hull shoot-thru transducer, or a specific SideVu / DownVu transducer combination that doesn't match what's bundled in standard HELIX 12 configurations. MEGA Down Imaging+ delivers down-looking sonar imagery with 3x the output of standard Down Imaging - the high-resolution detail makes structure mapping, fish discrimination, and bottom characterization dramatically more useful than legacy 2D sonar. The MEGA+ generation upgrades this with 20 percent more detail and 60 percent more depth capability vs the original MEGA Down Imaging. Coverage: 200 feet of depth capability with high-detail imagery. Note: this model is MEGA Down Imaging+ only (DI+), not the MSI+ (Side Imaging) variant. If you need side-imaging capability, the HELIX 12 MSI+ G4N is the right model. If you have one of these motors, the trolling motor's integrated transducer outputs MEGA sonar directly to the HELIX 12 G4N CHO via the standard trolling motor cable connection. No separate transducer required - the integrated transducer in the trolling motor lower unit handles all sonar duties. This is the standard configuration for serious bass tournament boats running compatible trolling motor motors with built-in MEGA.

Keypad interface. The HELIX uses traditional keypad controls (not touchscreen) with a soft-key menu system. Practical reasoning: keypad operation works reliably in any weather condition including wet hands, gloved hands, rough water (where touchscreen accuracy degrades), and direct sunlight that can defeat touchscreen sensitivity. For dedicated fishing applications where the operator may be wet, gloved, or fishing in rough conditions, keypad operation is more reliable than touchscreen. Some operators prefer touchscreen for the gesture-based interaction. others prefer keypad for the tactile reliability. Humminbird offers both styles - HELIX is keypad, SOLIX is touchscreen.

What's in the box. The HELIX 12 G4N CHO ships with the head unit, the gimbal mounting bracket, all mounting hardware, the power cable, and quick-start documentation. NOT INCLUDED: the transducer - you supply the appropriate transducer for your install.
