Minn Kota Raptor Universal Sandwich Adapter Black

The Minn Kota Raptor Universal Sandwich Adapter is the installation accessory that solves the geometry problem some boats face when installing a Raptor shallow water anchor. The Raptor is Minn Kota's premium shallow water anchor system (the alternative to the Talon, with a different mounting and deployment design optimized for bass boats and high-performance fishing applications). The Raptor's standard mounting hardware works directly on a clean transom or behind a typical jack plate - but boats with non-standard transom geometry, boats with stacked outboard mounting hardware, or boats that need different vertical positioning than the standard direct mount allows, need the sandwich adapter to bridge the geometry gap.

What the sandwich adapter actually does. The adapter is a flat structural plate (with mounting flanges) that bolts between two mating surfaces - typically between the jack plate's rear face and the boat's transom, or between the outboard motor's mounting bracket and the transom. The Raptor anchor's mounting hardware then attaches to the sandwich adapter rather than directly to the transom. Two specific use cases drive sandwich adapter installation:

Use case 1: Boat already has a jack plate installed. Jack plates lift and lower the outboard motor vertically on the transom (typically 4-6 inches of travel, with locking position adjustments) to optimize prop depth for different speed and load conditions. The standard Raptor mount works on a transom without a jack plate - but if you have a jack plate, the Raptor mount can't simply bolt to the transom because the jack plate is in the way. The sandwich adapter bolts between the jack plate and the transom, providing the mounting surface that the Raptor hardware attaches to. The Raptor moves up and down with the jack plate as you adjust outboard trim - which is the correct behavior because the Raptor needs to be relatively close to the outboard for proper geometry.

Use case 2: Boat doesn't have a jack plate but you want jack-plate-style Raptor mounting. Some boat-specific Raptor mount configurations are designed for jack-plate-mounted Raptors - typically Raptor hardware that's offset further outboard than the standard direct-transom Raptor mount. If you don't have an actual jack plate but want to use that mounting style (for example, to clear a wide transom geometry or to position the Raptor for clean line-of-sight to the deploy point), the sandwich adapter bolts directly between the outboard and the transom, providing the jack-plate-style mounting surface without an actual jack plate present.

Single-piece aluminum construction. The adapter is machined or cast from a single piece of aluminum - no welds, no joints, no bolted-together sub-assemblies. Single-piece construction means there's no weld joint that can fatigue and fail under the dynamic loads the Raptor anchor puts on the bracket. The aluminum material gives the right combination of strength (handles the Raptor's deployment forces), light weight (doesn't add significant mass to the transom assembly), and corrosion resistance (aluminum doesn't rust in saltwater the way steel would, though it does need anodizing or powder-coating for long-term protection).

Powder-coated black exterior. The aluminum body is powder-coated black for two reasons. First, aesthetic continuity with the Raptor anchor housing (which is also black) - so the install looks intentional rather than mismatched. Second, the powder coat provides UV and corrosion protection that bare aluminum lacks. Powder coating is more durable than spray paint (it's electrostatically applied and cured at high temperature), so the finish lasts the life of the bracket without flaking or fading.

Stainless steel mounting hardware included. Marine installations require stainless steel fasteners because regular steel rusts within weeks in saltwater spray. The sandwich adapter ships with all the stainless mounting hardware required for the install - bolts, washers, lock washers, nuts, and any required sealing components. No additional hardware purchases required beyond what's in the box.

Slotted mounting holes for position adjustment. The mounting holes in the adapter are slotted (oval-shaped) rather than round, which allows for some adjustment of the final mounting position during installation. Critical because transom geometry varies between boat models and the slotted holes accommodate small variations without requiring custom drilling or shimming. Position the adapter where it gives optimal Raptor geometry, tighten the bolts, done.

Both port and starboard Raptor applications. The adapter is symmetrical and works equally for port-side or starboard-side Raptor installations.
