Whale WX1532B 1/2" BSP x 15mm Quick Connect Adapter — Product description

The Whale WX1532B is a straight adapter that bridges a 1/2 inch female BSP threaded port and Whale's 15mm Quick Connect plumbing. Thread one end onto a pump, tail, or valve, push your 15mm pipe into the other, and you're sealed. Glass-filled polypropylene. No clamps, no tools.

The Whale WX1532B is a straight adapter from Whale's Quick Connect plumbing range, and its whole job is to let two different connection types talk to each other. On one end you've got a 1/2 inch female BSP thread. On the other, a 15mm female Quick Connect socket. Thread the BSP side onto a pump port, a filter housing, a water heater tail, or a tank fitting, then push your 15mm semi-rigid pipe straight into the Quick Connect end. That's the whole install. No clamps, no glue, no heat.

If you haven't worked with Whale's Quick Connect system before, the push-fit end is the part worth understanding. Inside the socket there's an O-ring that seals against the outside of the pipe and a collet, a little gripping ring, that bites down and holds the pipe against pressure. You push the pipe in until it bottoms out, give it a tug to confirm it's seated, and you're done. Need to take it apart later? Push the collet ring in toward the body with your fingers and pull the pipe back out. It reconnects just as easily, so reworking a run or swapping a component doesn't mean cutting anything.

The threaded end is a 1/2 inch female BSP, so it screws onto a male 1/2 inch BSP tail. BSP is a parallel pipe thread you'll see across Whale's pumps, strainers, and accessories and a lot of imported marine plumbing gear. One thing worth flagging. BSP and NPT are not the same thread. They look close, but the angles and pitch differ, so don't try to mate this to an NPT tapered fitting and expect a clean seal. Match BSP to BSP and you'll be fine. A wrap of PTFE thread tape on the male tail helps a parallel BSP joint seal up clean, and hand-tight plus a gentle nip with a wrench is usually all it takes.

Where does it earn its keep? Anywhere you're running 15mm freshwater pipe and hit a threaded port. Tying a Whale freshwater pump into a 15mm distribution run. Feeding a water heater. Plumbing a galley or head sink supply. Building out a manifold where accessory legs branch off a threaded block. On a boat, in a camper, or a van build, it's one of those small fittings that quietly makes the rest of the system possible. Keep a few on hand and you can adapt almost any 1/2 inch BSP port over to 15mm pipe in seconds.

Push-fit also changes how a job feels. Traditional barb-and-clamp plumbing means cutting hose to length, wrestling it over a barb, and torquing down a hose clamp in a cramped locker where you can barely get a screwdriver in. Quick Connect skips all of that. You cut the 15mm pipe square, push, and move on. In tight bilge spaces or behind a cabinet where working room is measured in inches, that difference adds up fast over a full plumbing run.

The body is glass-filled polypropylene, the same material Whale uses across the Quick Connect line. The glass fill stiffens the plastic so threaded connections stay put and the socket keeps its shape under pressure, and polypropylene shrugs off the freshwater environment without corroding the way a metal fitting eventually can. It's white, it's light, and it won't add galvanic headaches to your plumbing.

It's sold as a single adapter, so order the count you need for your run and pick up 15mm pipe and any tees or elbows separately. For a first-time builder it's about as approachable as plumbing gets. For a seasoned rigger it's a fitting you can trust not to weep six months down the line. Either way, it's the kind of part you want a couple of spares of in the bin.

Frequently asked questions

What does the WX1532B adapter actually connect?

It joins a 1/2 inch female BSP threaded port to Whale's 15mm Quick Connect push-fit pipe. Thread one end onto a pump, tail, or valve, and push 15mm pipe into the other.

Is the threaded end BSP or NPT?

It's a 1/2 inch BSP thread, not NPT. The two standards look similar, but the pitch and angle differ, so pair this with a BSP fitting for a clean seal. Don't force it onto an NPT port.

Is the BSP end male or female?

Female. It screws down onto a male 1/2 inch BSP tail.

What size pipe does the Quick Connect side take?

15mm. It's built for Whale's 15mm semi-rigid freshwater pipe.

Do I need any tools, glue, or clamps to fit it?

No. Cut the 15mm pipe square, push it into the socket until it seats, and tug to confirm. The thread end screws on by hand and snugs with a wrench if you need it.

Can I disconnect it after it's installed?

Yes. Push the collet ring in toward the body and pull the pipe out. You can reconnect it the same way, which makes reworking a run easy.

What's it made of?

Glass-filled polypropylene. The glass fill stiffens the body so it holds pressure and thread tension, and the plastic won't corrode in a freshwater system.

Is this for freshwater plumbing?

Yes. It's part of Whale's freshwater Quick Connect range for potable water runs on boats, campers, and van builds.

Does it come with pipe or O-rings?

It's sold as a single adapter. The sealing O-ring and collet are built into the socket, but 15mm pipe and any other fittings are sold separately.
