Whale WX1504B 15mm Quick Connect Coupler | Equal Straight — Product description

The Whale WX1504B is the in-line joiner for a 15mm Whale Quick Connect freshwater system. Both ends are female push-fit sockets, so you join two lengths of 15mm pipe with a firm push, no tools or clamps. Glass-filled polypropylene, white, and fully reusable when you need to rework the run.

The Whale WX1504B is a 15mm equal straight coupler, and it does one job well. It joins two lengths of 15mm semi-rigid pipe in a straight inline run. Both ends are female Quick Connect sockets, so you push the pipe home and you're done. No clamps, no glue, no heat, no tools.

Think of it as the in-line joiner in a Whale Quick Connect freshwater system. You'll reach for one anytime you need to extend a run that came up a little short, rejoin a line after you've cut it to route around a bulkhead or a stringer, or splice in a repair where a section got nicked. Instead of running a whole new length of pipe from the tank to the fixture, you cut, couple, and carry on. It keeps the plumbing behind your galley and head tidy and serviceable.

The Quick Connect part is the clever bit. Inside each socket there's a gripping collet and an O-ring seal. Push a squarely cut 15mm pipe in until it bottoms out and the collet bites to hold it while the O-ring seals the joint. When you need to take it apart, you press the release collar in and pull the pipe straight back out. That's it. The fitting is reusable, so you can dry-fit a run, check your routing, then pull it back apart and adjust before you commit. Anyone who's fought with barb fittings and hose clamps in a cramped bilge will appreciate how fast this goes.

It's molded from glass-filled polypropylene in white. That matters on a boat. There's no metal to corrode, nothing to seize up or weep green down a bulkhead a few seasons in, and the plastic shrugs off the freshwater it carries. The white finish disappears into typical potable-water plumbing, so it looks clean whether it's tucked behind a panel or run across the back of a locker.

This coupler lives on the freshwater side of the boat. Galley sink feeds, head basin lines, shower supply, water tank runs, the plumbing that brings dock water or tank water to your fixtures. It's equally at home in a caravan or motorhome freshwater system, which is where a lot of these Whale fittings end up. It isn't rated for fuel, oil, or any pressurized gas line. Keep it on potable and freshwater duty and it'll serve for years.

A couple of install notes from the dock. Cut the pipe square. A clean, straight cut seats fully and seals properly, while an angled or ragged cut can leak or won't bottom out. Knock off any burr on the cut end before you push it in so you don't nick the O-ring. And push the pipe all the way home, past the collet, until it stops. A lot of mystery drips on push-fit systems come down to a pipe that wasn't seated the whole way. Give each joint a gentle tug to confirm the collet has grabbed before you pressurize.

One thing to know before you order. This is the fitting only, sold as a single. It's an equal coupler, which means both ends take the same 15mm pipe. There's no pipe, no mounting clips, and no pipe-support hardware in the bag. Figure out how many couplers, tees, and elbows your run needs, then order the Whale Quick Connect pipe and clips to match.

Because it's part of the wider Whale Quick Connect range, the WX1504B mixes straight into whatever else you've built with 15mm fittings. Run a straight coupler where you need a joiner, drop in a tee where you branch off to a second fixture, add an elbow at a tight corner. Same push-fit, same 15mm pipe throughout. That consistency is the whole point of a push-fit system, and it's why rigging or reworking a freshwater run stops being an all-day job.

Frequently asked questions

What does an equal straight coupler actually do?

It joins two lengths of 15mm pipe end to end in a straight line. Use it to extend a run, rejoin a line after a cut, or splice in a repair without replacing the whole length.

What size and type of pipe does it fit?

It takes 15mm Whale Quick Connect semi-rigid pipe on both ends. Both sockets are the same size, so it's an equal coupler, not a reducer.

Do I need tools, clamps, or glue?

No. It's a push-fit fitting. Cut the pipe square, push it fully home, and the internal collet grabs while the O-ring seals. No hose clamps, no adhesive, no heat.

Can I disconnect it later?

Yes. Press the release collar in and pull the pipe straight out. The fitting is reusable, so you can dry-fit a run, check the routing, then pull it apart and adjust before you pressurize.

What's it made of?

Glass-filled polypropylene, molded in white. There's no metal to corrode, which is why these hold up well in a damp bilge or locker over the seasons.

Can I use it for fuel or gas lines?

No. This is a freshwater and potable-water fitting only. Keep it off fuel, oil, and any pressurized gas line.

Does it come with pipe or mounting clips?

No. It's the coupler only, sold as a single fitting. You'll order the Whale Quick Connect pipe and support clips separately to match your run.

Where does this get used on a boat?

Anywhere on the freshwater side: galley sink feeds, head basin lines, shower supply, and water tank runs. It's also common in caravan and motorhome freshwater systems.

How do I get a leak-free connection?

Cut the pipe square, deburr the end so it doesn't nick the O-ring, and push it all the way home past the collet until it stops. Give it a gentle tug to confirm the collet grabbed before you turn the water on.
