VDO SingleViu 100mm (4") Tachometer - 3000 RPM

VDO has been building marine gauges for over 50 years, and the SingleViu line is where that experience meets modern engine electronics. This is the 100mm (4") tachometer with a 0 to 3000 RPM scale, sized for slower-turning diesels and any engine that lives in that range. It drops into the standard 4-inch panel hole most helms already have cut, so on a lot of boats this is a straight swap for a tired old tach.

Here's what makes the SingleViu different from a plain analog gauge. Each one carries its own microprocessor. That gives it dual-input capability. Out of the box it reads a traditional analog sender through its 0 to 400kHz input, so it works with the senders you already have. But flip it over to J1939 CAN through the SingleViu Configuration software and it'll talk straight to a modern engine's data network. Same gauge, two worlds. The movement is an advanced stepper motor, which means the needle is quick and steady instead of the lazy sweep you get from old bimetal tachs. Backlighting is RGB LED, set to white by default, and you can change the color to match the rest of your panel if you're running other SingleViu gauges.

Wiring is straightforward. The gauge uses Molex MX150 connectors (8-pin and 12-pin) and ships with the wire harness in the box, so you're not hunting for a pigtail. It runs on 12 to 24 volt systems, which covers just about every boat out there. Mounting is handled by VDO's Spin-Lok hardware, a clamp system that snugs the gauge into the panel from behind without a lot of fuss. No stud kits to line up, no fighting the gauge from the front. You cut the hole, drop it in, and clamp it down.

A couple of honest install notes. Behind the dash you'll want to leave clearance for the gauge body and the harness, so measure your rear depth before you commit. And if you're feeding it from an analog sender, take a minute to ground the signal wire shield at the gauge end. That knocks down the RF noise alternators like to throw, which is the usual reason a tach reads jumpy at idle. On a magnetic pickup, setting the gap correctly matters too. Small stuff, but it's the difference between a rock-steady needle and one that dances.

Who's this for? Anyone refreshing a helm who wants a gauge that looks sharp, reads accurately, and won't box them in later. The 3000 RPM scale is the one you want for slower diesels and displacement power.
