UFLEX USA KITOB-07 Hydraulic Steering Hose Kit, 7 ft Set of 2

UFLEX built the KITOB-07 for boaters running hydraulic steering who want a clean, pre-made hose run without cutting and crimping their own fittings. You get two flexible black hoses, each 7 feet long, with nickel-plated fittings already crimped on one end and bend restrictors right where the hose leaves the fitting. That restrictor is the part people underestimate. It keeps the hose from kinking at the tightest point of the bend, which is exactly where a field-cut hose tends to fail.

These are made for helms with 1500 PSI relief valves. UFLEX recommends them for the SilverSteer and MasterDrive helm lines specifically. So before you order, check the relief valve rating on your helm. If you've got a 1000 PSI helm, these aren't the right hoses, and mismatching pressure ratings on a steering system isn't something you want to guess at. A relief valve that opens at the wrong pressure can leave you with sloppy steering or a slow leak that shows up at the worst possible time.

Seven feet is a common length for a single-station outboard where the helm and the cylinder aren't far apart. Think a center console in the low-to-mid 20s, or a smaller bay boat. Before you commit to 7 feet, run a piece of string along the actual path the hose will follow, around bulkheads, through the rigging tube, up to the helm. Hydraulic hose doesn't like sharp corners, so the real routed length is always longer than the straight-line measurement. If you're tight, size up. UFLEX makes this same hose in longer lengths for bigger boats and dual-station setups.

The pre-crimped end is a real time saver, but it does ask you to pay attention during install. The fitting only lands on one end, so plan which end goes to the helm and which gets terminated at the cylinder. Get the bend restrictor seated and aligned before you tighten everything down, because the hose can twist on you if you fight the fitting after the fact. Once it's routed, secure it every so often with cushioned clamps and keep it off any sharp fiberglass edges. The black jacket is UV resistant for exposed runs, but no hose loves rubbing on a raw glass edge, so add a bit of split loom anywhere it crosses one.

After the hoses are connected, you've still got to fill and bleed the system. That's true of any hydraulic steering job, not just this one. Air likes to hide near the fittings and bend restrictors, so don't be surprised if you need a few extra bleeding cycles to get the wheel feeling solid. Take your time here. A properly bled system is firm and predictable lock to lock, and that's the whole point of running hydraulic in the first place.

One thing to be clear on: this is a set of hoses, not a complete steering kit. You're getting the two 7-foot lines and their fittings. The helm, the cylinder, the fluid, and any tee fittings for a dual-station setup are all separate. If you're building a system from scratch, plan those pieces out together so everything matches on pressure rating and thread. If you're replacing tired hoses on an existing UFLEX system, this is the straightforward like-for-like swap, assuming your original run was 7 feet.
