Tekonsha ModuLite HD Protector | 119148 Converter — Product description

The ModuLite HD Protector is Tekonsha's powered trailer-light converter. It runs your trailer's lights straight off the vehicle battery and keeps the tow vehicle's wiring protected with built-in circuit protection. Turn and stop circuits handle up to 4.2 amps, the taillight circuit up to 7.5 amps. Simple, solid, and it won't let a trailer-side short reach your truck.

The Tekonsha ModuLite HD Protector is a powered converter that runs your trailer lights straight off the vehicle battery instead of loading up the tow vehicle's factory wiring. That's really the whole point of it. Your truck sends the low-current signal, the ModuLite does the heavy lifting, and the trailer's lights get clean, full power.

It handles the turn and stop circuits at up to 4.2 amps and the taillight circuit at up to 7.5 amps, so there's real headroom for a fully loaded trailer. The built-in circuit protection is what earns it the Protector name. A short or an overload on the trailer side won't feed back and take out your vehicle's electrical system. If something goes wrong down the line, the module catches it first.

One thing to know before you wire it in: the circuit probe isn't included, so grab one separately if you want to test your connections during the install. Good choice for anyone towing a utility, boat, or cargo trailer who wants the tow vehicle's wiring kept safe.

Frequently asked questions

Does this run my trailer lights off the vehicle wiring or the battery?

Off the battery. The ModuLite HD Protector is a powered converter, so your vehicle just sends the signal and the module pulls full power from the battery to drive the trailer lights.

What are the circuit ratings?

The turn and stop circuits are rated up to 4.2 amps each, and the taillight circuit is rated up to 7.5 amps. That covers most utility, boat, and cargo trailers.

Does it protect my tow vehicle's electrical system?

Yes. It has built-in circuit protection, so a short or an overload on the trailer side won't feed back and damage your vehicle's wiring.

Is the circuit probe included?

No. The circuit probe isn't included with this module. You'll want to pick one up separately if you need to probe your connections during installation.
