Taylor Made Platinum Series 50-Inch Champagne Boat Bench Seat

Taylor Made has been building marine furniture for decades, and the Platinum Series is where that experience shows. This is a 50 inch lounge bench, 22 inches deep and 30 inches tall overall, sized to drop into the standard bench station on most 22 to 24 foot pontoons and deck boats. Whether you're refreshing tired factory seating or building out a custom layout from scratch, it gives you a wide, comfortable spot for two to three people to ride without eating up your whole deck. It looks clean, and it's built to stay that way.

The heart of this seat is the frame. It's rotationally-molded marine grade polyethylene, not a wood or plywood base wrapped in foam, and that matters more than it sounds. Wood-framed boat seats are the number one thing we see rot out, usually from water that wicks in through a staple hole or a torn seam and never fully dries. This frame can't rot. The thick poly walls resist warping, they shrug off standing water, and they form the under-seat storage cavity at the same time they give the seat its structure. So you get real support and a dry place to stash life jackets, dock lines, and gear, all from one molded piece that isn't going to fail on you three seasons in.

Everything on top is chosen to live outside. The cover is marine grade vinyl in champagne, treated to handle constant sun and salt without cracking or fading the way cheaper vinyl does. Underneath it is mildew resistant polyurethane foam, so the cushion stays comfortable and doesn't soak up water and turn into a sponge. Taylor Made stitches the seams with polyester UV-resistant thread, staples the cover with stainless steel, and hangs the storage lid on aluminum hinges. There's no mild steel hardware in there to bleed rust streaks down the base. It's the kind of spec you don't think about until a lesser seat starts staining and sagging.

Two features make this one genuinely practical day to day. First, the lid opens to a full storage compartment inside the base, so that's usable volume you'd otherwise give up. Second, the base has molded drainage channels, so a rain shower or a wet swimsuit drains out the bottom instead of pooling under the cushion. Anyone who's lifted a soggy boat cushion the morning after a storm knows exactly why that's worth having.

A few things to plan for before it goes in. The seat mounts through four corner points into your deck, and you'll want to drill clean pilot holes rather than drive fasteners in cold, especially on a curved or thin deck, so you don't stress the poly and crack it. On lighter pontoon decking, a backing plate underneath spreads the load and keeps the base solid when you're running through chop. And measure your station. At 50 inches long it fits most pontoon benches nicely, but on an 18 to 20 foot center console it'll overhang the space, so check your numbers before you order.

This is a non-adjustable, non-folding seat, so once it's mounted it's a permanent fixture. If you trailer, measure your cockpit clearance first, because it won't fold down out of the way for towing or storage. The 30 inch overall height is comfortable for most people, though shorter drivers sometimes like a seat a touch lower. As for keeping it looking sharp, champagne is a light, clean color, and like any light marine vinyl it rewards a regular wipe-down.
