T-H Marine Rigging Flange Kit, Chrome, 2 in Hose

Every rigged boat has that one spot where a bundle of cables and hoses has to disappear through the deck or splashwell and come out clean on the other side. The T-H Marine Rigging Flange Kit is how you make that pass-through look like the builder did it at the factory. You get a chrome-finished flange, a polypropylene body built to shrug off spray, and a 4-foot length of 2-inch black rigging hose to carry your steering cable, control cables, and wiring down into the bilge.

This is bread-and-butter rigging gear. Anytime you're routing lines out of a transom well, through a console base, or down from a leaning post, you want them channeled and sealed, not flopping around a raw hole in the deck. We reach for a kit like this on repowers all the time. New outboard, new steering, new controls, and suddenly there's a fat bundle that needs a tidy home. The 2-inch hose swallows a surprising amount of gear. A hydraulic steering hose, a couple of control cables, and a wiring harness all fit with room to spare.

The body is polypropylene, so it won't corrode the way a metal fitting can when it's sitting in a damp bilge or a splashwell that never really dries out. The chrome cap handles the visible side and gives you a finished look right where people see it. It's a light part that carries no real load. Its whole job is to guide and protect the lines running through it, and to seal the hole they pass through.

Install is straightforward if you take your time. Cut your deck opening to match the flange, and here's the one gotcha worth repeating. On curved or crowned surfaces, measure twice so the flange seats flush and the cap sits right. Feed your cables and hoses through the 4-foot black hose first, then run the hose through the flange and down to wherever your bundle terminates. Bed the flange in a good marine sealant so nothing weeps around the collar. And at the hose barb, double-clamp it. On a planing hull that pounds all day, a single clamp can back off and let water track down the hose. Two clamps and you'll forget it's even there.

The included hose is 4 feet of 2-inch black flexible rigging hose. That's enough for most transom-to-bilge runs on a bay boat or center console. If you're rigging a taller helm and need more reach, you can extend the run with matching 2-inch inside-diameter hose. Want extra chafe protection on the wiring? Slip a length of 2-inch split loom inside the hose, especially where the bundle passes over a deck edge or a sharp fiberglass lip.

One more note on the hose. The 2-inch size is cut to fit standard 2-inch rigging hose, so any fittings or accessories you already run in that size will play nice with it. Keep your bends gentle. Rigging hose kinks if you crank it into too tight a radius, and a kink can pinch a control cable or restrict a hydraulic line. Give the run a smooth, sweeping path and it'll route cleanly for years.

A couple of things to keep in mind before you order. It's a single kit, so if your cockpit has cables entering the deck in two separate spots, plan on grabbing a second one. And if the pass-through lives entirely below deck where nobody's looking, you may not care about the chrome dress at all, but the sealing and the organization are still worth having. Cables that are channeled and clamped don't chafe, don't rattle, and don't wick water into your bilge.
