If you've ever looked at the transom of a well-rigged boat and wondered how all those control cables, fuel lines, and wires disappear so cleanly into the hull, the answer is usually a rigging flange and a length of corrugated rigging hose. This is that flange. The T-H Marine RF-2.5-1-DP is sized for 2-1/2 inch rigging hose, and it's the piece that anchors the hose to your transom or splash well and gives everything a finished, professional look.

Here's what it actually does. The flange threads onto the end of your rigging hose and mounts to a flat surface, giving you a clean pass-through for cables and wiring between the outboard and the inside of the boat. The molded polypropylene body is internally threaded, so the hose grabs and holds without hose clamps or adhesive. And because it's threaded rather than glued, you can back the hose off and adjust the run later if you need to add a cable or reroute something. That's a real advantage when you're rigging a new boat and you know you'll be adding electronics down the road.

The material matters more than you'd think on a part like this. Rigging hardware lives in the worst spot on the boat, right at the transom where it takes constant sun, salt spray, and the occasional knock from a dock or a boot. This flange is molded from black polypropylene, which handles UV and saltwater without getting brittle or chalky the way cheaper plastics do. It's the same class of hardware you'll find on plenty of new production boats straight from the factory.

One nice touch is the textured backside. It lets you mount the flange inverted on lids, hatches, and various transom surfaces, so you're not fighting the geometry of your particular boat. Whether you're feeding hose down into a rigging tube, through a splash well, or across the back of an outboard bracket, the flat, textured base gives the fasteners a solid bite.

Who needs one? Anyone rigging or re-rigging an outboard. If you're running new control cables, adding a fuel line, or pulling fresh wiring for a jack plate, a trolling motor, or new electronics, the rigging hose keeps it all bundled and protected, and the flange is what terminates that hose cleanly at the transom. It's also a common repair item. The hose and flange take abuse over the years, and when the old one cracks or the threads wear out, you swap in a fresh flange rather than leaving your rigging exposed.

Installation is straightforward for most boaters. Mark your spot on a flat section of the transom, splash well, or rigging tube, drill your pass-through and fastener holes, then thread the hose into the flange and fasten the flange down. Run a bead of marine sealant behind the base if you're mounting anywhere you want to keep water out of the hull. Feed your cables and wiring through the hose, and you're done. No special tools, no proprietary hardware.

A couple of things to know before you order. This is the flange sold as a single piece. It does not include the rigging hose. So if you're starting from scratch you'll want to pick up the matching 2-1/2 inch corrugated hose separately, or grab a flange-and-hose kit if you need both. Also double-check your hose size before you buy. T-H Marine makes flanges for both 2 inch and 2-1/2 inch hose, and they're not interchangeable. This one is the 2-1/2 inch version, so measure your existing hose or your rigging tube opening if you're not sure.
