Shadow-Caster built the SCM-DL-CC-BK for the spots on a boat where you want light that does two jobs. Flip it to clean white when you need to actually see what you're doing in a locker or the head. Then switch it over to red, blue, green, or anything in between when the sun goes down and you want the cabin to feel right. It's a small fixture, 2 inches across the face, but it puts out 300 lumens and pulls very little off the bank doing it.

The RGBW part matters. A lot of color-changing lights fake white by blending red, green, and blue, and you end up with a washed-out tint that never looks quite right. This one has a dedicated white LED alongside the color channels, so your white reads as actual white and your colors stay saturated. You get real task lighting and real accent lighting out of the same fixture, which is exactly what you want when helm space and headliner real estate are tight.

Power is easy. The SCM-DL-CC-BK accepts anything from 10 to 30 volts, so it doesn't care whether you're running a 12-volt house bank or a 24-volt system. Draw is low, 250 milliamps at 12 volts and 125 milliamps at 24 volts, so you can run a whole string of them off modest wiring without watching the voltmeter sag. To get the color changing and dimming, you'll wire the fixture through a compatible RGBW controller. That's how the four channels get addressed. On longer 12-volt runs, size your wire up a gauge to keep voltage drop from dulling the output at the far end of the run.

Installation is a clean flush mount. You cut a 1-1/4 inch hole, drop the fixture in through the supplied bracket, and secure it with the three included screws. The face sits nearly flush, so it won't snag a swinging cabinet door or catch a line. Because it's rated IP67, it's happy inside a cabin or out on deck, but the seal is only as good as your bedding. Lay down butyl tape or a marine sealant around the cutout before you seat it, especially on an exterior surface, and it'll stay dry for years.

Where does it earn its spot? Think heads, hanging lockers, engine-access panels, galley toe-kicks, cockpit coamings, transom steps, and cabin overheads. The 120-degree beam spreads wide enough to light a small space evenly without a harsh hot spot in the middle. At 300 lumens it's ideal for accent and task work in tight quarters. It's not a floodlight, so don't expect one fixture to light the whole cockpit, but a pair or a trio spaced out will wash a space nicely.

The housing is black anodized aluminum, and that does double duty. It looks sharp against a dark headliner or a black hull accent, and the aluminum pulls heat away from the LED so the fixture runs cooler and lasts longer. The lens is clear glass, not plastic, so it stays optically clean and takes a wipe-down without hazing over time. If you run the color channels hard for long stretches, give the fixture a rest now and then to keep housing temperatures in check.

For a light this size, the SCM-DL-CC-BK covers a lot of ground. White when you need to work, color when you want the mood, low current draw, a sealed body, and a flush profile that looks like it came from the factory. Wire a set through one controller and you can tune a whole cabin from a single switch. That's a lot of flexibility out of a fixture that hides in a 1-1/4 inch hole.
