Where you place them matters. Two lights, one on each side of the transom, give an aluminum pontoon a balanced wash of light across the stern. Because the beam is 120 degrees wide rather than a narrow spot, you don't need a row of fixtures to get an even glow. Space them for symmetry, keep them below the waterline, and let the water do the rest.

If you're wiring up more than one, plan the circuit. Each SC3 pulls about 1.5 amps continuous at 12 volts, so a pair is easy, but once you're adding three or more you'll want to check that your fuse panel and wiring can carry the load. Keep an eye on battery voltage on long nights, as well. When the bank sags well below 12 volts on a long run, you'll see the output dim a little. A healthy, charged 12 volt system keeps these lights at full brightness.
