Seaview SV4100R RailPod Chartplotter and MFD Rail Mount

Seaview builds mounts for one reason. To get your electronics exactly where you want them, solid enough to trust in a chop. The SV4100R RailPod does that for a chartplotter or a multifunction display, clamping straight onto a rail so you're not sacrificing dash space you don't have. If your helm is already crowded, or you run a center console where the console face is full, this is how you add a screen without cutting into the boat.

Here's how it works. The pod clamps to standard round tubing, 1 inch, 1-1/8 inch, or 1-1/4 inch, using a single stainless steel base clamp. That covers most T-top rails, hardtop frames, leaning post grab rails, and arch tubing you'll find out there. Once it's locked down, you've got a flat 4-1/2 inch by 4-1/2 inch face to work with. That's the usable area, and it's sized for compact displays in the 4 to 7 inch class where a rail pod makes the most sense.

The un-cut part matters. This RailPod ships with a solid face, no pre-cut opening. You cut it to match your specific display's mounting template. That's a good thing. It means the pod isn't locked to one brand or one bezel shape, and you get a tight, custom opening instead of a loose universal hole. Measure twice, mark from the display's own template, and cut once. If you're not comfortable with that, any rigger or marine electronics shop can do it in a few minutes.

Construction is acrylic-capped ABS plastic in white. The acrylic cap gives you a harder, UV-facing outer surface over the ABS core, which holds up better to sun and salt than bare plastic. The clamp hardware is stainless. A couple of real-world tips from installs we've seen. If you're clamping onto a polished aluminum rail, run a thin strip of rubber or rigging tape under the clamp so it doesn't mar the finish and so it grips without slipping. And give the stainless hardware a fresh-water rinse now and then if you run in salt, same as the rest of your deck gear.

One honest note on any single-base rail mount, this one included. A single clamp point is clean and simple, but a heavier display out at the end of a long unsupported rail can transmit vibration at speed on a planing hull. If you're mounting a larger screen or running hard offshore, add a support strut or pick a rail section close to a welded joint where there's less flex. For the compact displays this pod is really meant for, that's rarely an issue.

Overall the pod measures 6 inches wide, 4.06 inches deep, and 5.91 inches tall, so check your clearances before you commit to a spot. You want the screen readable from the helm, the cables able to route down through or behind the rail, and nothing fouling a throttle or a grab rail. Dry-fit it first, then bring the display's cable straight out the back of the pod and down along the tube. Leave yourself a service loop so you can pull the screen for storage or winterizing without fighting the wire. A little planning here is the difference between an install that looks factory and one that looks like an afterthought.
