Here's the practical payoff. Once this cable is run and the display is set up, your Ride controls live on the same MFD you already use for charts, sonar, and radar. Route it away from standing bilge water where you can, and a dab of dielectric grease on the connector before you seat it goes a long way against moisture creeping into the pins. One thing to be clear about. This is a pure Ethernet data path. It carries the Ride system's high-rate control and attitude information, and that traffic doesn't ride the NMEA 2000 backbone. So this cable isn't a substitute for your network drop or your power and data trunk. It does one job, connecting the Ride controller to your display, and it does that job well. If your display is new to Ride integration, check that it's running current firmware before you go looking for hardware faults. A lot of it-won't-connect calls come down to a software update that hasn't been done yet.
