Sea-Dog SD-13 40 Amp Circuit Breaker | 830118 — Product description

The Sea-Dog SD-13 is a 40 amp push-to-reset thermal breaker that protects a higher-draw circuit without the mess of fuses. It panel mounts in a 3/16 inch cutout, trips on an overload, and resets with a push of the white button. Ignition protected, so it's safe near the engine and fuel systems.

The Sea-Dog SD-13 is a simple, dependable thermal circuit breaker rated at 40 amps. It does one job and does it well. When a circuit pulls more current than it should, the breaker trips and cuts power before wiring heats up or insulation melts. No spare fuses to carry, no fuse holder to fish around in. You just push the white button to reset it once you've sorted the fault.

At 40 amps, this is the one you reach for on higher-draw circuits. Think windlass feeds, larger livewell and washdown pumps, a stereo amplifier, or a small accessory distribution panel. It handles 250 volts AC and 50 volts DC, so it covers 12V and 24V boat systems with plenty of headroom.

It mounts through a panel with a shallow 3/16 inch depth behind the dash, and the screw terminals make for a clean, solid wire connection. The Bakelite housing takes heat and vibration in stride. And because it's ignition protected to UL1500, you can run it near the engine or fuel system without worry. It's UL 1077 and UL/cUL listed too.

Frequently asked questions

What does the 40 amp rating cover?

It's sized for higher-draw single circuits like a windlass feed, a larger livewell or washdown pump, a stereo amplifier, or a small accessory distribution panel. The breaker trips if that circuit pulls more than 40 amps.

Will it work on a 24 volt system?

Yes. It's rated to 50 volts DC, so it covers both 12V and 24V boat systems with headroom to spare.

How does it reset after it trips?

Just push the white button in. It's a push-to-reset design, so once you've fixed whatever caused the overload, a single press puts it back in service. No fuses to replace.

Is it safe to mount near the engine?

Yep. It's ignition protected to UL1500, which means it won't ignite fuel vapors. That's what lets you install it near the engine or fuel system safely.

How deep does the panel cutout need to be?

The panel depth is 3/16 of an inch, so it fits shallow dash and console panels. It mounts through the panel and wires up with screw terminals.
