Sea-Dog SD-13 30A Thermal Circuit Breaker | 830117 — Product description

The Sea-Dog SD-13 is a 30-amp push-to-reset thermal circuit breaker built for the helm. It's ignition protected to UL1500, so it's safe to mount near fuel and engine spaces, and it resets with a push of the white button instead of a fuse swap.

The Sea-Dog SD-13 is a 30-amp thermal circuit breaker that protects a higher-draw circuit on your boat without the hassle of spare fuses. When it trips, you just push the white reset button and you're back in business. No digging through the glovebox for a replacement fuse in the dark.

Thirty amps covers the bigger single loads on a boat. Think a windlass support circuit, a livewell and washdown pump pair, a stereo amp, a bank of cabin lights, or a feed to a small accessory panel. It's rated 250 volts AC and 50 volts DC, so it's at home on 12V and 24V systems.

What makes this one marine-grade is the ignition protection. It's UL Listed to UL 1077 and carries the UL/cUL ignition-protected UL1500 rating, which means it won't spark in a way that sets off fuel vapors. That's the certification you want for anything mounted near the engine or fuel tank. The housing is Bakelite, the terminals are screw type, and it panel mounts with just 3/16 inch of depth behind the dash. Wire it in, label it, and forget about it.

Frequently asked questions

What does the 30 amp rating cover?

It's sized for a higher-draw single circuit. A windlass support circuit, a livewell and washdown pump pair, a stereo amp, a cabin-light bank, or a feed to a small accessory panel all fall in range.

Is it safe to mount near the engine or fuel tank?

Yes. It's ignition protected to UL1500, which means it won't spark in a way that could ignite fuel vapors. That's exactly the rating you want in an engine or fuel space.

How does it reset after it trips?

Push the white button on the front. It's push-to-reset, so there are no fuses to replace. Just clear the fault and push it back in.

Will it work on a 24 volt system?

Yes. It's rated 250 volts AC and 50 volts DC, so it handles both 12V and 24V DC boat systems.

How does it mount?

It's a panel-mount breaker with screw terminals and needs only 3/16 inch of depth behind the dash. Drill the hole, mount it, and land your wires on the screws.
