Sea-Dog SD-13 20A Marine Circuit Breaker, Push-Reset — Product description

The Sea-Dog SD-13 is a 20 amp push-to-reset thermal circuit breaker built for the helm panel. It protects a single mid-draw accessory circuit, think bilge and washdown pumps, nav electronics, or a bank of cabin lights, and resets with a push of the white button. Ignition protected to UL1500, so it's safe near fuel and engine spaces.

The SD-13 is Sea-Dog's compact thermal circuit breaker, and this one's rated at 20 amps. That's the size most boaters reach for when a single accessory circuit needs its own protection. Bilge and washdown pumps, a livewell pump, a stereo amp, a bank of cabin lights, or a nav electronics cluster all fit comfortably under 20 amps.

It mounts straight through your panel and needs only 3/16 inch of depth behind the dash, so it tucks into tight console spaces. Wiring is simple. Two screw terminals, and you're done. When the breaker trips on an overload, the white button pops out. Push it back in to reset. No fuses to carry, no spares to lose in the bilge.

The body is bakelite, which handles heat and vibration well. And because it's ignition protected to UL1500, you can mount it near fuel and engine spaces without worry. That's the detail that separates a real marine breaker from an automotive part. It's listed to UL 1077 and carries UL/cUL recognition too.

Frequently asked questions

What does the 20 amp rating cover?

It protects a single circuit drawing up to 20 amps. That covers most accessory loads on a boat, bilge and washdown pumps, a livewell pump, a stereo amp, a nav electronics cluster, or a run of cabin lights. Always match the breaker to the wire gauge and the load, never above it.

What does ignition protected to UL1500 mean?

It means the breaker won't ignite a flammable atmosphere when it trips or arcs internally. That's what lets you mount it safely near fuel tanks, engine compartments, and gasoline systems. It's the key difference from a standard automotive breaker.

How does it reset after a trip?

It's push-to-reset. When an overload trips the breaker, the white button pops out and the circuit opens. Once the fault clears, press the button back in and power is restored. There's no fuse to replace.

How does it mount and wire up?

It's a panel-mount breaker that needs only 3/16 inch of depth behind the dash. Two screw terminals handle the wiring. It fits tight console and helm panels where space is limited.
