Sea-Dog SD-13 20A Circuit Breaker | 830155 — Product description

The Sea-Dog SD-13 is a 20 amp push-to-reset thermal breaker built for the wet, vibrating life on a boat. The 1/4-inch quick-connect terminals let you slide spade connectors on without fighting screws, and it's ignition protected to UL1500 so you can mount it near the engine or fuel without worry.

The Sea-Dog SD-13 handles a single 20 amp circuit, which puts it right in the sweet spot for the mid-draw gear on most boats. Think bilge pumps, a washdown or livewell pump, a stereo amp, a nav-light cluster, or a bank of cabin lights. One breaker, one circuit, done.

What sets this version apart is the terminals. You get 1/4-inch quick-connect spade tabs, so you just slide your crimped connectors on and go. No screwdriver, no dropped hardware behind the panel. That's a real time-saver when you're wiring a tight helm or adding a circuit in a cramped console.

It's a push-to-reset design. Trip it and a white button pops out, so you can see at a glance which circuit went. Push it back in to reset. The housing is Bakelite, rated for 250 volts AC and 50 volts DC, and the whole unit is ignition protected to UL1500. That last bit matters. It means you can mount it near the engine or fuel system and not sweat a spark. It drops into a panel with just 3/16 inch of depth behind the face.

Frequently asked questions

What can I run on a 20 amp breaker?

It's sized for a single mid-draw circuit. A bilge pump, a washdown or livewell pump, a stereo amp, or a bank of cabin lights all fit comfortably under 20 amps. Match the breaker to the wire gauge and the load.

Is it safe to mount near the engine?

Yes. The SD-13 is ignition protected to UL1500, which means it won't set off fumes from the engine or fuel system. That's exactly why it's built for marine use.

What kind of terminals does it use?

1/4-inch quick-connect spade tabs. You slide crimped spade connectors straight on, no screws to tighten. That makes wiring a tight panel quick and clean.

How does the reset work?

It's push-to-reset. When the breaker trips, the white button pops out so you can see which circuit opened. Push it back in to restore power once you've cleared the fault.

How much room do I need behind the panel?

Just 3/16 inch of panel depth behind the mounting face, so it fits in shallow consoles and dash panels where space is tight.
