This is Sea-Dog's 8/2 AWG duplex flat boat cable, a 100 foot run of tinned copper built for real DC work on the water. Red and yellow conductors under a flat PVC jacket, rated to 600 volts, and stamped UL 1426 and ABYC. It's the wire you run for windlasses, thrusters, and heavy accessory feeds that have to survive a salt environment.

Sea-Dog's 8/2 AWG duplex safety wire is 100 feet of proper marine cable, the kind you want feeding the loads that actually matter on a boat. You get two 8-gauge conductors, one red and one yellow, laid flat inside a single PVC jacket. Both conductors are stranded tinned copper, and that tinning is the whole point. Bare copper corrodes fast in a salt environment, wicking green up under the insulation until a connection goes high-resistance and warm. Tinned strands shrug that off for years.

The 8 AWG size puts this in windlass, bow thruster, and heavy accessory territory. Think anchor windlass feeds, an inverter branch, a big livewell pump, or a run to a secondary distribution panel. At 8 gauge you've got real current capacity, but you still need to mind voltage drop on long runs. As a rough guide, a 30 amp load pushed 25 feet on this wire lands right around a 3 percent drop, which is the ABYC target for critical circuits. Go much longer or much heavier and you'll want to step up a gauge or split the load across a parallel run.

The flat encasement is a genuinely nice feature for tight boats. Untinned terminals on tinned wire is a false economy that shows up as corrosion inside two seasons.

A couple of real-world notes from pulling this stuff. A fresh 100 foot spool likes to hold memory kinks when you unroll it, so lay it out on deck and let it relax, or pull it straight before you feed it through conduit. And respect the temperature rating. The PVC is happy to 105 degrees C dry, but it softens if you route it hard against an exhaust riser or turbo. Keep it clear of those hot spots or add heat shielding.

This is UL 1426 boat cable and it carries the ABYC nod, so it'll pass a survey and it's the right call for permanent DC wiring below decks. What it isn't is AC shore-power cable or a substitute for battery cable on a starter run, where you want a larger, finer-stranded conductor. For 12 or 24 volt DC feeds in the 8 gauge range, though, this is exactly what belongs on the boat. Buy the 100 foot roll once and you'll be pulling from it for years to come.
