Sea-Dog's 6 AWG battery cable is stranded tinned copper on a 100 foot white spool, built for real marine DC work. Sea-Dog built this 6 AWG cable for the jobs where wire size actually matters. It's a stranded tinned copper conductor in a white jacket, sold on a 100 foot spool, and it's the wire you reach for when you're running current between batteries, to a windlass, to an inverter, or feeding a main panel on a mid-size boat. Six gauge is a workhorse size. Big enough to carry serious amperage without cooking, small enough to route through a bilge or behind a console without a fight.

The tinning is the part that earns its keep out here. Bare copper corrodes fast in a salt-air bilge, and that green crust doesn't just look bad, it adds resistance right where you can least afford it, at the lug. Every strand on this cable is coated in tin, so the copper underneath stays bright for years. When you crimp a tinned lug onto tinned wire, that connection holds up to spray, humidity, and the constant flex of a boat working in a seaway. Keep it away from exhaust manifolds and turbo housings on inboards, and if you have to pass close to a heat source, sleeve it in high-temp loom. Tinned 6 gauge is also a little stiffer than the light 10 and 12 gauge wire you're used to, especially when it's cold, so on a chilly day let the spool warm up before you try to work it through tight bilge runs. It'll bend a lot more willingly and you won't kink it.

Tinned wire actually pulls through conduit a little easier than bare copper, but 6 gauge still has some backbone to it, so a shot of pulling lube saves you some knuckle skin on long runs through tight chases. When you terminate, match tinned wire with tinned lugs and terminals. Putting a bare terminal onto tinned cable sets up a spot for corrosion right at the connection, which is the one place you never want it. Crimp with a proper hex or hydraulic tool for this size, then seal the barrel with adhesive-lined heat shrink.

The 100 foot spool is the right buy if you've got a full rewire ahead, a couple of long high-current runs, or you just want good cable on the shelf for the next project. It's not the cable for your nav lights or your electronics, that's a job for smaller gauge. This is heavy DC wire for the circuits that move real amperage.
