The thing that matters most on a boat is the tinned copper. Bare copper looks fine the day you install it and then quietly turns green inside the insulation a season later, especially anywhere salt air gets to it. A couple of install tips from the shop. A 500-foot spool is heavy and it likes to kink if you yank it, so set it on a spindle or a length of pipe and let it feed instead of flaking it onto the deck. Terminate with tinned ring or spade lugs and adhesive-lined heat shrink, not the cheap PVC crimps, and your connections will outlast the boat. Where the cable passes through a bulkhead or over an aluminum edge, use a grommet or a wrap of chafe tape so the jacket doesn't wear through with vibration.

One more note on the 500-foot count. It sounds like a lot until you start adding up a boat's DC circuits. Between lighting fore and aft, pumps in every compartment, and instrument runs to the helm, a mid-size boat eats wire fast.
