Sea-Dog 1004 Double Contact Bayonet Bulb 12.8V 12W — Product description

The Sea-Dog #1004 is a 12-volt double contact bayonet bulb built for life on the water. Heavy duty glass, a nickel plated brass base, and a 12.8 volt, 12 watt rating make it a straight replacement for the common bayonet fixtures you'll find in dome lights, courtesy lights, and other 12-volt gear around the boat.

If you've got a 12-volt fixture running a dead #1004 bulb, this is the Sea-Dog replacement that drops right in. It's a standard double contact bayonet bulb, so the two contacts on the base feed the filament and the bayonet pins lock it into the socket with a push and a quarter turn. You'll find the 1004 in all kinds of spots on a boat. Dome lights, courtesy lights, and plenty of other 12-volt fixtures that use the common bayonet base.

The glass is heavy duty, which matters out on the water where vibration and the odd bump come with the territory. The base is nickel plated brass, so it resists the corrosion that kills cheaper bulbs in a damp locker or an exposed fixture. It runs at 12.8 volts, pulls 0.94 amps, and puts out 15 candle power from 12 watts. Keep a couple in the spares box. Bulbs always go at the worst possible time, usually after dark.

Frequently asked questions

What is a #1004 bulb?

A #1004 is a standard double contact bayonet bulb rated at 12.8 volts and 12 watts. This Sea-Dog bulb matches that spec with a 0.94 amp draw and 15 candle power of output.

What base does this bulb use?

A double contact bayonet base. Two contacts on the bottom and index pins on the sides. Push it in and twist a quarter turn to lock it in place.

Will this work in a 12-volt system?

Yes. It's rated at 12.8 volts, which is standard for a 12-volt marine electrical system.

Is the base corrosion resistant?

The base is nickel plated brass, so it holds up better than bare metal in the damp conditions around a boat.

How many bulbs come in this package?

One. This is sold as a single bulb.
