RIGID Industries Radiance Plus SR-Series RGB 10 Inch LED Light Bar

RIGID Industries builds lights for people who actually use them, and the Radiance Plus SR-Series is one of those pieces of gear you stop thinking about once it's mounted. It just works. This is the 10-inch model, eight clear LEDs pushing 4896 raw lumens through a broad spot lens, and it earns its spot on the front of a T-top or hardtop where you need real light without a huge power penalty.

Let's talk about what a broad spot pattern actually means on the water. It's a blend. You get enough reach to pick out a channel marker or a crab pot a good distance ahead, and enough spread that you're not staring down a narrow pencil beam. For most center consoles and bay boats, that's the pattern you want. You're running an inlet before sunup, working back to the ramp after a long day, or lighting up the cockpit while you rig lines. One bar covers a lot of that.

The number that makes boaters happy is the draw. 43 watts, 2.9 amps at 12 volts. That's nothing for the light you get back. Run it off a standard 12-volt system anywhere from 9 to 15 volts and your house bank barely notices. So you can leave it on while you're at anchor cleaning fish and not sweat the battery.

Then there's the backlight. The Radiance Plus line is known for its built-in RGB backlight, and this bar has it. It's a separate accent glow around the light, not your main beam, and you can dial it to match the rest of your boat's lighting. Some folks run a soft blue to protect night vision, some match their hull graphics, some just like the look at the dock. It's a nice touch you don't get on a plain white bar.

Build quality is what you'd expect from RIGID. The housing is black anodized aluminum alloy, which sheds heat and stands up to salt air, and the lens is clear polycarbonate that takes a hit and keeps spray beading off. This isn't a throwaway light. It's meant to live outside, mounted hard, through seasons of sun and salt.

Now the honest part, the install. It's a surface-mount bar and it comes with L brackets, so the bolt-down itself is straightforward. But if you're going into fiberglass, don't just thread screws into the gelcoat and call it done. Use backing plates or at least fender washers behind the mount, bed everything in a good marine sealant, and you'll never have it work loose or weep water into the core. On a metal hardtop it's even simpler. Wire it to a dedicated, fused circuit. A 10-amp fuse and a relay is the safe way to go, and if you're running the backlight, give it its own line so it isn't sharing a circuit with your nav lights and dimming them.

A quick word on placement. Up high on a hardtop gives you the longest throw and the least glare bouncing back off your own bow. Lower on a bow rail or pulpit is great for close-in work, spotting lines and fenders, and docking, but you'll get a little more reflection off the deck. On a 25 to 30 foot center console the 10-inch bar fits most bow setups cleanly. On a smaller skiff it can overhang, so measure your mounting real estate before you order. And if you want a matched pair port and starboard, they'll draw well under 6 amps together, so two is still easy on the system.

Who's this for? Anybody who runs early, fishes late, or just wants a clean, bright, well-built utility and accent light up front. It's equally at home on an off-road rig if that's your thing, RIGID gear crosses over like that, but on a boat it really shines.
