Rigid Industries SR-M PRO 912313 LED Driving Light

The Rigid Industries SR-M PRO is one of those lights you bolt on once and forget about, in the best way. It's a surface-mount LED in a 2 inch by 3 inch rectangular housing, wired for a driving beam, and it puts out 2376 raw lumens while only drawing 1.64 amps at 12 volts. That's a lot of usable light for almost no load on your electrical system. On a boat that means you can add a pair without rethinking your fuse block, and on a rig it means the same.

The beam here is a driving pattern. That's a focused, longer throw meant to reach out ahead of you rather than wash light close and wide. So it's the right pick when you want to see distance, a channel marker, a dock approach at range, or the trail past your headlights. If you're after a broad close-in wash for the cockpit or the deck right around the boat, a flood pattern suits that job better. Plenty of owners run a driving light like this one for reach and pair it with a wider light for the near field.

Build quality is where the SR-M PRO earns its keep. The housing is powder-coated black aluminum with rear cooling fins, so the LEDs shed heat and hold their output instead of throttling back after a few minutes on. The lens is unbreakable clear Lexan, not glass, which is exactly what you want on a light that's going to eat spray, gravel, and the occasional knock. It's rated for off-road use, and that same overbuilt housing is why these hold up on hardtops and towers that take a pounding at speed.

One thing we'll tell you straight: this is an off-road and auxiliary light, not a certified navigation light. Don't wire it in place of your running lights or your all-round white. Use it for working light, spotting, and reach, and keep your legal nav lighting separate. That's how it's meant to be run.

The kit is genuinely complete, which we appreciate. You get the single light, mounting hardware, a stainless steel U-shape bracket, a solid black light cover for when it's parked, and a wiring harness with an inline switch and a Deutsch connector. The Deutsch fitting is a sealed, positive-lock connector, so your power connection stays dry and doesn't back out on a rough ride. That's a nice touch at this size. Between the bracket and the harness, most folks have everything they need to get it mounted and switched in an afternoon.

A couple of install notes from experience. The U-bracket mounts to a flat surface, and on thin aluminum consoles or fiberglass it's worth backing the fasteners with a plate or large washers so the tabs don't work loose over time. Run appropriately sized wire for the distance, the draw is low but a long run on undersized wire will dim any light. And if you're on saltwater, give the fins and hardware a fresh-water rinse now and then. The powder coat and stainless bracket handle the marine environment well, but salt loves to sit in cooling fins.

So who's this for? Anglers and boaters who want a tough, low-draw spot of reach on a hardtop or tower. Off-roaders adding a clean driving light without a big amp penalty.
