Lowrance ActiveTarget 2 XL Trolling Motor Shaft Mount — Product description

The Lowrance ActiveTarget 2 XL Shaft Mount clamps your ActiveTarget 2 XL transducer to a round trolling-motor shaft or pole. Its cam-lock clamp fits shafts from 27 to 33mm, and it swaps between a Forward and Down XL position and two Scout XL positions so you can aim your live sonar wherever the fish are holding.

The ActiveTarget 2 XL Shaft Mount is Lowrance's dedicated bracket for clamping the ActiveTarget 2 XL transducer onto a round trolling-motor shaft or pole. If your trolling motor doesn't use the integrated ActiveTarget attachment points, this is how you get the XL transducer riding steady and pointed where you need it. It's the same shaft mount that ships with ActiveTarget 2 XL transducer packages, offered here on its own for anglers who need a replacement or a second mount for another boat.

Fit is the whole story with a shaft mount, and this one is built around a cam-lock style clamp that grabs round shafts and poles from 27 to 33 mm in diameter, which works out to roughly 1 1/16 to 1 5/16 inches. That range covers Lowrance Ghost and Ghost X trolling motors along with plenty of other round shafts and jack-plate poles in that size band. The cam-lock design is what makes it easy to live with. You set the clamp, throw the lever, and the mount locks down without a fistful of tools. When you want to reposition or pull the transducer for transport, it's just as quick to release.

Once it's on the shaft, you've got real control over your view. The mount adjusts between a Forward and Down XL position and two Scout XL positions, labeled Scout XL Shallow and Scout XL Deep. Every position has a clear alignment indicator, so you can change your angle repeatably instead of guessing. The Forward and Down XL setting gives you a zero-degree offset, which keeps your bait and the fish centered in the same frame. That matters when you're watching a lure swim back to the boat and trying to read exactly how fish react to it. Drop into a Scout XL position when you'd rather sweep the area and mark structure or suspended schools around the boat.

Installation is friendly to first-timers. The kit includes a shaft collar sub-assembly, an arm sub-assembly, rubber spacers, and the assembly hardware. The rubber spacers are the detail that makes the difference across that 27 to 33 mm range. They let the clamp seat firmly on smaller shafts without crushing anything and without letting the transducer creep or rotate under way. A transducer that stays put is a transducer that gives you a clean, stable image instead of a picture that wanders every time you turn the motor.

Be clear on what this part is and isn't. It's a mount, so it doesn't include the ActiveTarget 2 XL transducer, the ActiveTarget 2 module, or a display. Those pieces are sold separately. If you already own the XL transducer and it came without a mount, or your original mount is worn or lost, this bracket puts you back in business. If you're assembling a live-sonar setup from scratch, you'll pair this with the XL transducer, the module, and a compatible Lowrance chartplotter.

Anglers who fish structure will appreciate how much a good shaft mount does for their day. Bass sitting on brush, walleye tight to a break, crappie stacked on a bridge piling, all of it reads better when your transducer is locked at the angle you chose and holding it there cast after cast. Because you can move between forward-looking and scouting views in seconds, you're never stuck with one perspective when the fish change their behavior. That flexibility pays off across a season, on new water where you're still learning the layout and on home lakes where you already know the spots but the fish keep moving with the weather.

If you're not sure whether the XL shaft mount or a different ActiveTarget bracket is right for your motor and transducer, reach out to us at NVN Marine. We'll help you match the mount to your exact setup so the parts you buy work together the first time on the water.

Frequently asked questions

Which transducer does this mount fit?

It's built for the Lowrance ActiveTarget 2 XL transducer only. It's the same shaft mount that comes packaged with ActiveTarget 2 XL transducer SKUs.

What shaft sizes will the clamp fit?

The cam-lock clamp fits round shafts and poles from 27 to 33 mm in diameter, roughly 1 1/16 to 1 5/16 inches. Rubber spacers help it seat firmly across that range.

Which trolling motors work with it?

It fits Lowrance Ghost and Ghost X trolling motors along with other round trolling-motor shafts and poles within the 27 to 33 mm range.

Does this include the transducer?

No. This is the mount only. The ActiveTarget 2 XL transducer, the module, and a compatible display are sold separately.

How do I aim the live sonar with this mount?

You can set a Forward and Down XL position plus Scout XL Shallow and Scout XL Deep. Each position has an alignment indicator so you can change your view repeatably.

What is the cam-lock clamp like to use?

You set the clamp on the shaft and throw the lever to lock it. There's no fistful of tools involved, and releasing it for transport is just as quick.

What are the rubber spacers for?

They let the clamp grip smaller shafts securely without crushing them, keeping the transducer from rotating or creeping while you fish.

What comes in the box?

You get the shaft collar sub-assembly, the arm sub-assembly, rubber spacers, and the assembly hardware needed to install it.
