The Lewmar Size 0 opening portlight is the small, tidy port you reach for when you want a little light and real airflow in a cabin, head, or galley without cutting a big hole in the boat. It's part of Lewmar's standard rectangular line, and it's about as straightforward as marine glass gets. Smoke gray acrylic lens, silver aluminum frame, and a clip handle that swings it open and locks it shut. That's the whole story, and for most boats that's exactly what you want.

Let's talk fit first, because that's what matters before anything else. This is the Size 0, the smallest in the rectangular range. It drops into a cut-out of 11-15/16 inches wide by 6-1/8 inches high. The overall frame measures 12-11/16 inches wide by 6-15/16 inches high, so it only overhangs the hole by a small margin on each side. Measure your existing opening twice before you order. If you're replacing a tired old port, pull the old one out and measure the actual hole, not the old frame.

The lens is smoke gray acrylic. That tint does two useful things. It knocks down glare and heat gain through the port on a sunny day, and it gives you a bit of privacy at the dock so people on the finger pier aren't looking straight into your bunk. Even a small amount of out-of-square at the corners can leave a gap the seal can't bridge, and that's where the drips start. Bed the frame in butyl tape rather than silicone. Butyl stays flexible, it doesn't shrink, and it lets you snug the screws down over a day or two without the bond letting go. The port ships with twelve M5 by 25 mm screws, so your fasteners are handled. Snug them evenly in a cross pattern, wait a bit, then come back and snug them again once the butyl has spread.
