Humminbird LakeMaster VX Wisconsin Map Card (601010-1) — Product description

The Humminbird LakeMaster VX Wisconsin card turns your HELIX, SOLIX, or APEX into a Wisconsin lake-reading machine. High-detail contours, customizable color shading, and depth targeting for the waters you actually fish. Drop it in the card slot and you're seeing structure most boats motor right past.

The Humminbird LakeMaster VX Wisconsin card is the map upgrade that makes your fish finder worth what you paid for it. Slide it into your HELIX, SOLIX, or APEX and you go from a bare blue screen to a detailed read of the lake bottom, complete with contours, shading you can tune to your eyes, and depth tools built for finding fish instead of just dodging rocks. If you fish Wisconsin water, this is the card that puts the state's structure on your dash.

The heart of it is VX Technology. That's Humminbird's newest mapping engine, and the big win for anglers is the customizable color palettes. You're not stuck with one look. You can set the map so the depths you care about jump off the screen and everything else fades back. On a bright July afternoon on Lake Winnebago or a gray morning on Green Bay, you dial the colors until the break lines read clean. It sounds like a small thing until you've spent a day squinting at a map that fights you.

Depth Highlight is where this card earns its keep. Say the walleyes are stacked on the 18 to 22 foot break. You set the highlight to that range and the map paints exactly that band across every piece of structure on the lake. Now you're not guessing where the contour sits. You idle along the highlighted edge and stay in the strike zone the whole pass. Shallow Water Highlight does the same job up top, throwing easy-to-see red shading over skinny water on an adjustable range from 0 to 60 feet. Run the flats for spawning bass in spring without pin-balling off every sandbar.

Wisconsin water levels move. Reservoirs draw down, the rivers swell after a wet week, and a chart that assumes full pool will lie to you about where the real edges are. Water Level Offset fixes that. You tell the unit how far off normal the lake is sitting and it shifts every contour and shoreline to match. Your 12-foot line is actually 12 feet. That's the difference between trusting your electronics and second-guessing them all day.

On the lakes that support it, SmartStrike takes it a step further. Feed it the season, the weather, and the time of day and it highlights the spots on the map where fish are most likely holding right then. It's not magic, and it only runs on select HD lakes, but on a new-to-you lake it's a real head start. Chart Presets round out the package. Build a couple of your own view setups, one for running and one for fishing, and flip between them with a button instead of digging through menus with cold hands.

Compatibility is straightforward. This card works with Humminbird HELIX G3 and G3N units and newer, every SOLIX, and every APEX. Drop it in the card slot and the mapping shows up. It also plugs into the Humminbird One-Boat Network, so your chart and a compatible Humminbird-controlled trolling motor share the same map and can work together for things like holding a contour hands-free. One card, your whole Humminbird setup talking the same language.

One honest note. This is the standard VX Wisconsin card. Humminbird also sells a LakeMaster VX Premium Wisconsin card that steps up to finer contour detail and 2D shaded relief for an even clearer picture of the bottom, and it costs more. For most anglers the standard VX card gives you the full set of fishing tools, the color control, and the depth targeting you'll actually use out there. If you want the most detailed bottom rendering Humminbird makes for Wisconsin, ask us about the Premium. Otherwise, this is the one to run.

Frequently asked questions

Which Humminbird units work with the LakeMaster VX Wisconsin card?

It works with Humminbird HELIX G3 and G3N units and newer, all SOLIX units, and all APEX units. Slide it into the card slot and the Wisconsin mapping loads automatically.

What is SmartStrike?

SmartStrike uses the season, weather, and time of day to highlight the spots on the map where fish are most likely holding. It only runs on select HD lakes, but where it's supported it's a genuine head start on unfamiliar water.

What does Depth Highlight do?

You pick a depth range, say 18 to 22 feet, and the map paints that exact band across every contour on the lake. It makes following a productive break line a lot easier than eyeballing the numbers.

Can I match the map to current water levels?

Yes. Water Level Offset lets you tell the unit how far off normal the lake is sitting, and it shifts all the contours and shorelines to match. That keeps your depth lines honest on reservoirs and rivers that rise and fall.

How does the shallow water shading work?

Shallow Water Highlight throws an easy-to-see red shade over skinny water. You set the range anywhere from 0 to 60 feet, so it's handy for staying off the sand when you're working spawning flats.

What's the difference between this and the LakeMaster VX Premium Wisconsin card?

This standard VX card gives you the full set of VX fishing tools: custom color palettes, Depth Highlight, Shallow Water Highlight, Water Level Offset, and SmartStrike on select lakes. The Premium Wisconsin card steps up to finer contour detail and 2D shaded relief for an even clearer bottom picture, at a higher price. For most anglers this standard card covers what you'll actually use.

Do I need to update the card before I can use it?

No. The card ships with its V1 Wisconsin mapping ready to fish right out of the package. Humminbird posts map updates through ChartSelect if you want to grab the latest data down the road, but you don't have to update anything to get on the water.

Can I move the card between more than one Humminbird unit?

Yes. It's a single card, so you can pull it and move it to another compatible Humminbird unit whenever you want. It just lives in whichever unit's card slot you put it in.

Does it cover all of Wisconsin?

It carries detailed coverage of Wisconsin waters. Lake-by-lake detail varies, so if you're buying for one specific body of water, check Humminbird's published lake list to confirm that lake is included before you order.

Will it work with my trolling motor?

If you're running the Humminbird One-Boat Network, the card and a compatible Humminbird-controlled trolling motor share the same map and can work together, so you can do things like follow a contour hands-free.
