The Hella ValueFit 450 is a complete auxiliary driving light kit, and the key word is complete. You get two rectangular LED lamps, the brackets and stone shields to mount and protect them, and a full wiring harness with a relay, a switch, and a weatherproof DT connector. Open the box and you've got everything you need to add real forward lighting to a truck, an off-road rig, a utility vehicle, or a hardtop. No hunting for a relay at the parts counter, no piecing together a harness from the bin.

Each lamp packs 15 LEDs behind a clear lens and puts out 3000 lumens at 6000 Kelvin. That's a crisp, white driving beam built for reach, not spread. Point them down the road or the trail and they light up what's coming well before your low beams would. The 6.3 by 5.8 inch rectangular format is compact enough to tuck onto a bumper, a bull bar, a light bar tab, or a hardtop rail without eating up your whole front end.

Driving beams like these are meant to work with your high beams, not replace your headlights. Flip them on when the road opens up and there's nobody coming, and you'll pick up signs, animals, and turns a lot sooner. Flip them off for oncoming traffic. The housing is black aluminum, and it earns that material. Aluminum sheds heat, which is what keeps an LED lamp bright and honest over the long haul. It also takes weather, spray, and grime without complaint. The included stone shields clip over the lenses to take the hit from rocks and road debris, so a stray stone chips a cheap replaceable shield instead of your clear lens. It's a smart touch, and one a lot of kits skip.

Wiring is where this kit really saves you time. The whole set draws 75 watts and runs on anything from 10 to 30 volts DC, so it's happy on a 12 volt truck or a 24 volt system. The supplied harness handles the heavy lifting. Run your power through the included relay so you're not pushing the full load through a dash switch, put the switch somewhere you can reach it, and let the sealed DT connector give you a clean plug at the lamps. One tip from experience. Hit that DT connector with a little dielectric grease before you seat it, especially if the rig lives near salt or sees a lot of wet weather. It'll pay you back in a couple of seasons.

Mounting is upright, using the brackets and hardware in the box. Get them level, snug the hardware, then aim them on a wall or a flat road at night before you commit. A driving beam wants to sit just under your high-beam cutoff so you extend your reach without throwing glare back at yourself or blinding oncoming traffic. Because they're a matched set of 2, you run one left and one right for even, balanced coverage across the front.
