Hella 700FF H3 Halogen Driving Light Kit, Set of 2 — Product description

The Hella 700FF is a universal H3 halogen driving lamp kit, sold as a matched pair with everything you need to wire them in. 55 watts each, a long-throw driving beam, black ABS housings, and a full plug-and-play harness with switch and relay. Bolt them to a truck, an off-road rig, an RV, or a hardtop and light up the road ahead.

The Hella 700FF is a universal auxiliary driving lamp kit, sold as a matched pair with everything you need to wire them in and aim them. Each lamp runs a standard H3 halogen bulb at 55 watts behind a clear glass lens, tuned for a driving beam. That's a long, tight throw meant to reach well past where your low beams give up. Mount them on a truck, an off-road rig, an RV, a tractor, or a hardtop, and you get real reach out in front of you when the sun goes down.

A driving beam is the one you want for open-road and trail speed. It's a focused pattern that puts light far downrange rather than spreading it wide and close. So if you spend time on dark back roads, unlit two-lanes, or fire roads at night, this is the pattern that actually helps. It's not a wide flood, and it's not a fog pattern that hugs the ground. It reaches. Pair that with the H3's clean, focused filament and you get a crisp hot spot down the road.

The kit comes complete. You get two lamps, two H3 55-watt bulbs already in them, snap-on stone shields, and a full plug-and-play wiring harness with the relay and switch in the box. That relay matters. It lets the lamps pull their current straight from the battery instead of through a dash switch that isn't rated for the load, which is how you avoid melting a switch or dimming your lamps. The included switch and mounting instructions mean you're not hunting for parts halfway through the job.

Each lamp uses a universal stud mount with a pivoting bracket, so you can bolt them to a bumper, a light bar, a brush guard, or a hardtop and then dial the aim in exactly where you want it. The pivot lets you level them after everything's tight. On thin panels, back the stud with a proper washer or backing plate so you're not relying on a single-point mount to hold up under vibration. Standard stuff, but worth doing right the first time.

Watch your electrical load. Two 55-watt bulbs pull right around 9 amps together at 12 volts. Put them on their own fused circuit in the 10 to 15 amp range and you're set. The supplied relay harness is built for exactly this, so follow the wiring diagram and run the trigger wire to a switched source. Keep the power runs short and use the fuse holder that comes in the kit. Don't tie both lamps straight to an unfused accessory tap and hope for the best.

The housings are black ABS plastic, which keeps the whole assembly light and rust-free. The stone shields snap over the lenses to protect the glass from gravel and brush while you're trailering or bushwhacking, then pop off when you actually need the light. And because these run a common H3 bulb, replacements are cheap and available almost anywhere. If one burns out down the line, you're back in business in a couple of minutes.

Who's this kit for? Anyone adding auxiliary forward lighting on a budget who wants a complete, ready-to-wire setup instead of piecing one together. Off-roaders running trails after dark, truck owners who want more reach on rural highways, RV and trailer owners, tractor and equipment operators, and boaters rigging a hardtop or tower light. The 700FF has been a go-to auxiliary lamp for years because it's simple, it's serviceable, and it comes with the harness that most bare lamps make you buy on the side. Set it up right, aim it low enough to stay legal on the road, and it'll earn its keep.

Frequently asked questions

What comes in the 700FF kit?

Two lamps with H3 55-watt halogen bulbs already installed, snap-on stone shields, a complete plug-and-play wiring harness, a relay, a switch, and mounting instructions. It's a full kit, not just the lamps.

Are the bulbs included?

Yes. Both lamps ship with H3 55-watt clear halogen bulbs in them. You don't need to buy bulbs separately to get started.

What beam pattern is this?

A driving beam. It's a long, focused throw meant to reach far down the road past your low beams. It's not a wide flood and it's not a low fog pattern.

How big are the lamps?

Each lamp is a 7.3 inch round unit with a clear glass lens and a black ABS plastic housing.

How much current do they draw?

Two 55-watt bulbs pull right around 9 amps together at 12 volts. Put them on their own fused circuit in the 10 to 15 amp range and follow the included wiring diagram.

Does it include a wiring harness, switch, and relay?

Yes. The kit is plug-and-play with the relay, switch, and harness in the box. The relay lets the lamps draw straight from the battery instead of overloading a dash switch.

Can I replace the bulbs later?

Yes. These use a standard H3 55-watt bulb, so replacements are cheap and available almost anywhere. Swapping one takes just a couple of minutes.

What are the stone shields for?

They snap over the lenses to protect the glass from gravel and brush while you're trailering or running rough ground. Pop them off when you need the light at night.

What can I mount these on?

The universal stud mount with a pivoting bracket lets you bolt them to a bumper, brush guard, light bar, or hardtop. They work on trucks, off-road rigs, RVs, tractors, and boats.
