Go Power built the GP-ADV-LIFEPO4-100 for boaters and RVers who are done fighting lead acid. It's a 100 amp hour lithium battery at 12.8 volts nominal, sized to drop straight into a standard Group 31 tray. Same box, same footprint, a whole different level of performance. You get nearly all 100 amp hours as usable capacity, not the roughly half you'd actually pull from a flooded or AGM battery before you start shortening its life.

The chemistry here is lithium iron phosphate, and that matters. It holds voltage under load, so your lights stay bright and your inverter doesn't sag as the bank drains down. It charges fast and it cycles thousands of times, which is why a lithium house bank tends to outlast several rounds of lead acid. And it's light. Lifting a Group 31 out of an under-seat locker is a lot friendlier when you're not wrestling a heavy flooded battery, and the recessed carry handles make the swap easier on your back. You can watch the whole thing from your phone over Bluetooth. State of charge, voltage, and battery health, all live, so you're not guessing how much you've got left before you need to run the engine or fire up the generator. The battery also carries RV-C communication ports, so it can talk to compatible system monitors and inverter-chargers for a fully integrated power setup. One note from the field: Bluetooth can drop if you bury the battery in a sealed metal box, so plan your install with the antenna in mind.

Connections are M8 threaded stud top terminals, which give you a clean, solid mechanical joint for heavy cable. Snug them to spec, somewhere around 10 to 12 Nm, and don't crank down past that. The terminal area doesn't love being over-torqued. Because the studs sit up top, give yourself a little vertical clearance in tight under-seat or under-bunk installs, and check that your existing cables reach with the terminals oriented up.

Charge it with a lithium-aware charger set for the right absorption voltage, generally in the 14.2 to 14.6 volt range. A stock high-output alternator that pushes much past that can trip the internal protection on a long run, so if you're charging off the engine, make sure your regulator plays nice with lithium. Set up right, this is a battery you mostly forget about, which is exactly what you want out of your house power. No topping off water, no equalizing charges, no watching the voltage sag every night at anchor.

This is a deep-cycle house battery, not a dedicated engine starter. On a boat, it's a strong choice for the cabin bank on a trawler, sailboat, or cruiser, with a separate starting battery keeping the engine job on its own. In an RV, it drops right into the standard Group 31 location and pairs naturally with a solar setup.
