Egis Mobile 3201-15 15A Single Pole Circuit Breaker

Every boat needs a fast way to kill a circuit and bring it right back. That's the whole job of the Egis Mobile Electric 3201-15, and it does it well. It's a 15-amp single-pole breaker rated for 277 volts AC and 80 volts DC, so one part covers a shore-power branch circuit or a house DC circuit without you stocking two different breakers. Flip the toggle down to open the circuit. Flip it back up to restore it. No blown fuse to hunt for in a dark locker at the worst possible moment.

What sets this one apart on the panel is the magnetic-hydraulic trip mechanism. A thermal breaker leans on a bimetal strip that drifts with cabin temperature, so it can nuisance-trip on a hot day or hold too long on a cold one. Magnetic-hydraulic breakers don't care. The #10-32 screw terminals take a ring or fork terminal and torque down clean. As a general-purpose 15-amp breaker, it fits a long list of circuits. Nav lights, a fresh-water pump, a stereo feed, cabin lighting, a small accessory bus, they're all fair game. And because it's built for high interrupt current, 5kA at 277Vac and 1.5kA at 80Vdc, it can safely open a fault on a circuit fed by big paralleled battery banks, where there's a lot of stored energy waiting to dump into a short.
