And like anything that takes a beating in rough water, it's worth checking the clamp every so often and re-snugging it, because a knob that's been slammed lock-to-lock for a season can work loose. A dab of threadlocker on the hardware buys you peace of mind. The stainless finish will pick up fingerprints, so keep a little metal polish in the console if you like it showroom-bright. None of that is a knock on the knob. It's just what to expect from a hard-working piece of helm gear.
