Dometic 3316250.700 CT Single Zone AC Thermostat

The Dometic 3316250.700 is the capacitive touch single-zone thermostat that runs one air conditioning zone in your RV or boat. It's the polar white CT model, the flat glass-style panel you tap instead of an old rocker switch or dial. One thermostat, one zone, and full control over cooling, the furnace, an electric heat strip, and heat pump mode if your unit has it.

Single zone is the first thing to understand. This stat controls one Dometic air conditioner. If you've got a single rooftop unit on a travel trailer, or one Dometic air handler cooling the cabin on a mid-size cruiser, this is exactly the part you want. Running two or three units? You'll want a separate stat for each zone, or a multi-zone controller instead. Don't try to make one single-zone head cover a whole boat with three air handlers. It won't.

The capacitive touch face looks clean on a bulkhead or an RV wall, and it wipes down easy. Worth knowing before you buy: capacitive touch reads your finger, not pressure. So wet, salty hands or heavy gloves can make it slow to respond out on the water. A dry fingertip does the trick. On an open boat that takes spray, keep a towel near the helm and you're fine.

Install is straightforward for anyone comfortable behind a panel. It runs on 12 volt DC and wants constant, clean power. A lot of the headaches we hear about trace back to power. If the stat shares a circuit that browns out when the compressor kicks, you'll get resets and a blank screen. Give it a steady 12V feed and it behaves. One more install note. If your air conditioner is a heat pump, make sure the control is set up for heat pump operation and not defaulted to the heat strip. Match the configuration to your actual unit. Get that right and the thermostat and AC talk cleanly, cycle correctly, and hold your set temperature without short-cycling all afternoon.
