If your RV's patio awning fabric has gone brittle, faded, or split along a seam, this Dometic universal replacement gets you back in the shade without buying a whole new awning. It's a one-piece vinyl fabric sized for a 17-foot awning with an 8-foot extension, finished in a clean Onyx color with a Polar White vinyl weathershield already bonded to the top edge. You reuse your existing roller tube and arms and just swap the fabric.

Vinyl is the material you want if you camp anywhere that sees real weather. It's waterproof, so a passing afternoon storm rolls right off instead of soaking through. It wipes clean with mild soap and water, which matters when you're parked under pine sap or road dust for a week. And it holds up to sun better than a tired old fabric that's already chalking. This one is a single continuous piece, so there are no stitched panels down the length to leak or pull apart over time. Install is a two-person job and a good weekend project. You'll slide the old fabric out of the roller tube and the awning rail, feed the new fabric into the same channels, and re-tension the roller. Having a helper on the other end makes the whole thing go smoothly, and you'll want to work on a calm day so a gust doesn't turn the fabric into a sail. Most folks knock it out in an afternoon with basic tools. If you've never done one, take a few photos of how the old fabric routes before you pull it, and you'll thank yourself during reassembly.

A couple of honest notes. This is the fabric only. It doesn't come with new arms, a roller tube, or end caps, so if your hardware is bent or seized this won't fix that. And it's a universal replacement, which means it's sized by length rather than cut for one specific awning model, so measuring first is on you. For the vast majority of standard patio awnings in that 17-foot range, though, this is exactly the part you want, and Onyx is a great color if you want your rig to look a little sharper than the plain off-white it probably came with.
