Coleman-Mach 9 Series Multi-Zone Digital Wall Thermostat, Black

The Coleman-Mach 9 Series multi-zone control is the wall thermostat that runs the climate setup in a zoned RV. If you've got a larger motorhome or fifth wheel with more than one roof unit, this is the black-cased digital head that lets you set temperatures zone by zone from one spot on the wall. The digital readout keeps the current temperature and your setpoint right in front of you, so there's no squinting at a dial to work out where things sit.

Here's the first thing to know. Coleman rolled this part into a new number, 9420-330. So you'll see it listed either way, and the unit you receive ships under the current 9420-330 designation. Same function, same job in your rig. If your old thermostat carried the 9330A3341 number and you're hunting for a match, this is it.

Multi-zone is the part that trips people up, so let's be clear about it. A single-zone RV has one thermostat talking to one air conditioner. A zoned Mach 9 system splits the coach into separate areas, front and rear for example, each with its own roof unit and its own comfort setting. This control head is what manages those zones together. You dial the bedroom cooler at night and leave the living area where it is, all from the one panel.

What the head actually controls depends on the equipment tied to each zone. On a system with heat pump or furnace capability wired in, you're managing both cooling and heating from the same panel. On a cooling-only zone, it runs the air conditioning and the fan. The thermostat follows whatever your Mach 9 zone units are set up to do, which is why matching it to the right system matters more than any single feature on the face of it.

It runs on your coach's 12-volt DC system, with an operating range of 9 to 16 volts and a 20-volt standby ceiling. That's normal RV house-battery territory, so it behaves the same whether you're plugged into shore power or running off the batteries. Nothing exotic in the wiring, and no separate transformer to source.

On the install side, it's a wall-mount unit and it comes with what you need to hang it. You get the wall mounting plate, four mounting screws and anchors, the wire harness, and the zone 1 resistor. If you're swapping a tired thermostat on an existing Mach 9 system, the job is mostly matching the harness to your zone control box and buttoning it back to the wall. Take a photo of the old wiring before you pull anything, and label your leads. That five minutes of prep saves a lot of head-scratching later.

This is a system-specific control, not a universal thermostat. It's built for the Coleman-Mach 9 Series zoned architecture and it expects to talk to Mach 9 zone control equipment. If your coach came with a Mach 9 multi-zone setup and the thermostat has quit, gone dim, or you just want the cleaner digital readout, this is the correct replacement. If you're running an older single-zone Coleman system, this isn't the part for that job, and we'd rather tell you that up front than sell you something that won't fit.

One more note on the black case. It's the standard look for the Mach 9 wall control, and it drops into the same footprint most owners already have, so you're not patching drywall or repainting a panel to make it fit.
