Camco 59065 15-in Propane Feed Hose, ACME x 1/4 Flare

This is the Camco 59065, a 15-inch propane feed hose, sometimes called a pigtail, that carries gas from your propane cylinder to the regulator on an RV, trailer, or boat. It's the short, flexible link between the tank and the rest of your LP system. If your old pigtail is cracked, weeping, or just past its prime, this is the honest, no-frills replacement.

The connections are what matter on a hose like this, and Camco built the 59065 for the setup most modern rigs use. One end is a Type 1 ACME nut, the big hand-nut that threads onto the service valve of a current QCC-style refillable cylinder. The other end is a 1/4-inch inverted male flare that mates to the inlet on a standard RV or trailer propane regulator. Get those two ends right and the install is genuinely a five-minute job.

A couple of things to be clear about, because being wrong here causes returns. This hose ships without a regulator. It's the feed line only, so you'll reuse your existing regulator or buy one separately. And this particular model comes without thermal protection, meaning there's no built-in shutoff that closes the line if it's exposed to fire. That's not a defect, it's just this version's spec. It does mean you want to route and mount it away from heat sources, engines, and heater exhaust, and keep it in an open, ventilated locker rather than buried against something hot.

It's UL/CGA approved, so it meets the recognized North American standard for LP gas hose. That's the assurance you want on anything carrying propane.

Install is straightforward. The ACME nut hand-tightens onto the cylinder, no wrench needed, and it turns clockwise like any normal thread. Snug it firmly by hand. The 1/4-inch flare end does take a wrench, so tighten that one properly against the regulator fitting. Then, and this is the step people skip, soap-test every connection. Brush a little soapy water over the joints, open the gas, and watch for bubbles. No bubbles, no leak. If you see any, shut off, back off, and reseat. Never chase a propane leak with a lighter.

At 15 inches, this is a short pigtail meant for setups where the cylinder sits close to the regulator, which is the typical single-tank arrangement on a lot of travel trailers and smaller rigs. If your tank mounts farther away or you're running a two-tank changeover, you may want a longer hose or a second pigtail. Measure the run before you order so you're not fighting a hose that's too short.

For boaters, the same rules apply. Plenty of small powerboats and trailer-sailers run galley stoves or grills off standard LP cylinders, and this pigtail works fine there as long as your fittings match the Type 1 ACME and 1/4-inch flare pattern. Check what your regulator inlet actually is before you assume it drops in. And because this version has no thermal protection, be extra deliberate about where it lives on a boat, an open, ventilated propane locker, not tucked in near the engine.

If you're upgrading from an older rig, note the difference in the tank connection. Older cylinders used an internal POL fitting that you wrenched on, a left-hand thread that's easy to cross if you're rushing. The Type 1 ACME connection here is the newer standard, a large external nut you turn on by hand. It seats square more easily and it's harder to get wrong, which is exactly what you want on a fuel line. If your cylinder has that big hand-tighten nut on the valve, this hose is speaking the same language.

Propane hose is a wear item. UV, heat, and vibration all age the rubber over time, so give it a look each season and replace it at the first sign of cracking, stiffening, or a fitting that won't seal. It's cheap insurance on a system you don't want leaking.
