Camco 59033 Propane Feed Hose 5 ft POL x 1/4 Flare

This is the Camco 59033 propane feed hose, a 5-foot replacement line for LP-gas setups. If you've got a Camco 59123 or 59125 propane kit, this is the exact hose that carries gas from the tank connection over to the distribution side. Hoses are a wear item. They get brittle, they crack, the fittings weep. When yours reaches that point, you swap in a fresh one and you're back in business.

One end is an excess flow soft nose Prest-O-Lite fitting, the classic POL connection. It threads into the service valve on your propane cylinder with a left-hand internal thread. The soft nose part means it seats against the valve with a resilient tip, so you can usually snug it by hand without a wrench. The excess flow piece is a safety feature. If something downstream lets go and gas starts rushing through faster than it should, the valve restricts the flow instead of dumping your whole tank. That's the kind of thing you want built into a propane line.

One habit worth building with any excess flow fitting, open the tank valve slowly. Crack it open and let the pressure equalize before you turn it wide. Snap it open fast and the sudden surge can trip the excess flow valve, and then you'll get almost no gas at your appliance and wonder what's wrong. If that happens, shut the valve, wait a few seconds for it to reset, and open it slowly the next time. It's a two-second habit that saves a lot of head-scratching at the campsite.

The other end is a 1/4 inch inverted male flare. That mates to the matching inverted flare fitting on a tee, a splitter, or a regulator inlet. Flare fittings want a wrench, but go easy. You're seating brass against brass, and overtightening can distort the flare and start a leak instead of stopping one. Snug it, check for leaks, done.

A couple of things this hose is not, and both are right there in the name. It comes without a regulator. This is a feed line, not a regulator assembly, so your appliances still need regulated pressure from a regulator somewhere in the system. And it comes without thermal protection. It's a straight feed hose, not a thermal-shutoff pigtail. If your rig specifically calls for a thermal-protected connection, this isn't that part, so check what your setup needs before you order.

Five feet gives you enough slack to route the hose cleanly without pulling it tight across a fitting. Leave a gentle loop rather than a hard bend. Kinks and strain at the flare are what kill these hoses early, so a little routing care goes a long way. Keep it away from hot exhaust and sharp edges too.

Whenever you connect a propane line, leak-check it. Brush a little soapy water over every joint, open the gas, and watch for bubbles. Never use a flame to hunt for a leak. That's true for this hose and every other propane connection on your rig. And give the hose a look each season. If the jacket is cracked, stiff, or checked from UV and road grime, replace it. Propane hoses are cheap insurance and they don't owe you anything after a few years out in the weather.

The POL and 1/4 inch inverted flare fittings also show up on plenty of portable camp and marine propane gear, so if your setup uses those same connections, the hose will fit.
