Camco 44543 Stabilizer Jack Pad, Interlocking, Set of 2

If you've ever cranked down a stabilizer jack on soft ground and watched it slowly disappear into the dirt, you already know why these pads exist. The Camco 44543 gives your jack feet a wide, solid base so they stay put instead of sinking. You get two pads in the set, each measuring 14 inches by 11.7 inches, molded from tough polypropylene that shrugs off mud, gravel, and hot asphalt.

Here's the problem they solve. A stabilizer jack foot is small. All the weight it carries gets concentrated on a few square inches of ground. On a paved pad that's fine. But park on grass, sand, gravel, or soft soil and that little foot acts like a spike. It digs in, the trailer settles, and the stabilizing you just did goes out the window. Slide one of these pads under the foot and you spread that load across a much larger surface instead. Big difference.

The interlocking design is the part people don't expect to like and then do. Each pad has notched edges so two of them clip together side by side. That gives you a longer, wider platform when you're dealing with really soft ground or you need to bridge an uneven spot. When you're done, they pull apart and stack flat. Simple.

We like that Camco built in a handle and a carrying strap. Sounds like a small thing. It isn't. Jack pads are the kind of gear that ends up loose in a storage bay, sliding around and getting lost under everything else. With the strap you cinch the pair together and hang them on a hook or drop them in a compartment where you'll actually find them next trip. The handle makes them easy to grab and carry when your hands are already full of leveling blocks and chocks.

These work with a wide range of jacks. Stack jacks, fifth wheel landing gear, swing-down stabilizers, and even awning support arms all sit nicely on the flat top surface. If you run a travel trailer, a fifth wheel, a pop-up, or a boat trailer with tongue and stabilizer jacks, this is a set you'll reach for at every setup. Anywhere the jack foot meets loose ground, the pad belongs.

Polypropylene is the right material for this job. It's light enough to toss around one-handed, it doesn't soak up water like wood, and it won't rot, splinter, or crack in the cold the way a scrap 2x6 eventually will. It cleans off with a quick rinse. And because it's molded as one piece, there's nothing to come apart or wear out.

A couple of honest notes. These are a large-footprint pad at 14 by 11.7 inches, so they're built for stabilizer and landing-gear duty, not for the enormous point loads under a heavy hydraulic leveling jack on a big diesel pusher. For normal travel trailers, fifth wheels, and trailers they're right in the wheelhouse. And on truly bottomless mud, no pad is magic. But on grass, gravel, sand, and soft dirt, they do exactly what you want. Your trailer stops rocking and stays where you set it.

Set up is about as easy as gear gets. Lower the jack most of the way, slide the pad under the foot, then finish cranking down onto it. That's the whole procedure. When you break camp, retract the jack, grab the pads by the handle, strap them together, and stow them. Two minutes total, and you've saved yourself the headache of a jack that walked itself six inches into the campsite overnight.

The set of two covers the two jacks that matter most on many rigs, or you can pop the interlocking edges together for one oversized platform under a single heavy point. However you use them, they take up almost no room and weigh next to nothing. For the money, keeping your stabilizers from sinking is one of the cheapest upgrades you can make to how solid your rig feels at camp.
