Fill your fresh tank from a dock spigot that's been chlorinated hard, run it through this filter, and the chlorine taste and smell largely go away.

One tip from the field: when you seat the new cartridge, make sure the housing O-ring is clean and properly seated, and snug the canister lid to the manufacturer's torque. Over-tightening cracks housings, and under-tightening lets water bypass the filter. Neither is what you want.

Replacement timing depends on use, but plan on swapping it at least once a year even if the boat sits. Carbon has a shelf life once it's wet, and taste breakthrough tends to show up after eight to ten months on a stored boat.
