Camco 22924 Heated Drinking Water Hose, 50 ft, RV & Boat

Camco built the 22924 for the boaters and RVers who don't pack it in when the season turns cold. This is a 50-foot heated drinking water hose that runs fresh, potable water from a community water supply or a dock spigot straight to your boat or coach, even when everything around it is frozen solid. The threaded connection ties into a standard water supplier fitting, and the whole line carries a self-regulating heat source that only kicks on when it needs to. So you're not out there fighting a frozen hose at 6 AM when all you want is a hot shower and a full water tank. It's the same hookup you already know, just built to keep working when the mercury drops.

The heat is the whole point here. A PVC-encapsulated, self-regulating heating element runs the full length of the hose, and it's rated to keep water flowing down to -40 degrees Fahrenheit. Self-regulating matters more than most people realize. The hose draws power in proportion to how cold it actually is, so it sips current in mild weather and only ramps up when a hard freeze sets in. There's no thermostat to fuss with and nothing to switch on and off. Plug it into a dockside outlet and it takes care of itself. We'd still run it on a GFCI-protected circuit, and if you're leaning on battery power overnight, keep an eye on your house bank, because any heated line pulls a few amps continuously once temps drop below freezing.

Potable water means the hose has to be safe to drink from, and this one is. It's NSF approved and built BPA, phthalate, and lead free, so nothing nasty leaches into the water sitting in the line between fills. Sitting water in a potable line is only as safe as the hose it sits in, and this one's made for exactly that. The 5/8-inch internal diameter gives you solid flow for a single boat or RV hookup, enough for a shower and a galley tap without a frustrating trickle. And the hose is rated to 100 PSI of working pressure, which is well above what most dock and campground spigots ever put out. You get clean water at the tap without babying the pressure.

A couple of install notes from years of doing this. The threaded ends seat best with a wrap of Teflon tape and a firm hand, especially on fiberglass and aluminum fittings where a dry thread can weep under pressure. Give the whole thing a pressure test before you trust it through a cold snap. Fifty feet is plenty of reach for most slips and campsites, and it coils down fine for storage, though on a smaller center console you'll want to route it so it doesn't kink over a sharp rail or a hard deck edge. A little chafe guard where it crosses a corner goes a long way. And if your dock water runs dirty, an inline sediment filter ahead of the hose keeps grit out of your pump and tank.

So who's this really for? Liveaboards, cold-weather cruisers, folks tied up in northern marinas, and RVers who chase winter instead of hiding from it. If you only get out in summer and haul out before the first frost, you don't need a heated hose, and a standard drinking-water hose will save you money. But if you're plugged in through December somewhere the spigot freezes solid, the Camco 22924 is the difference between running water at the tap and hauling jugs down the dock. One last note on care. When the season winds down, drain the hose fully before you store it so you're not leaving standing water to sit or freeze inside the line. Coil it loosely, keep it out of direct sun where you can, and the NSF-rated material shrugs off UV and years of dock duty. Treat it right and it'll ride through plenty of winters.
